BMW’s 2025 motorcycle news falls into two different groups: models BMW announced during calendar 2025, and bikes updated for model year 2025 that BMW announced in November 2024. The distinction matters: the 2025 R 1300 R, R 1300 RS and R 1300 RT were revealed in 2025, while the R 1300 GS Adventure and updated F 900 models belong in the model-year group. Here’s what BMW announced, and what each bike is designed to do.
BMW motorcycles announced during calendar 2025
These are the motorcycles BMW introduced or identified as part of its 2025 range in announcements or reporting during calendar 2025. BMW’s April announcements cover three R 1300 models; its annual report retrospectively adds the R 12 G/S and several model updates.
BMW R 1300 R: boxer roadster
BMW presented the R 1300 R on April 10, 2025, as a boxer-powered roadster. BMW Motorrad USA’s announcement specifies a liquid-cooled 1,300 cc boxer producing 145 hp and 110 lb-ft of torque. Those are figures from BMW’s US release, not a guarantee that every market’s specification or equipment is identical. The release listed a US MSRP of $16,595 plus destination and anticipated a US market launch in late Q3 or early Q4 2025; both price and timing are announcement-era US information, not a statement of current availability. BMW R 1300 RS: sports tourer
BMW presented the R 1300 RS on April 29, 2025, describing it as a sports tourer. The stated aim is to bring a more dynamic character to sport touring while preserving touring and long-distance capability. BMW’s announcement establishes the model’s role; it does not, by itself, prove how it compares in comfort or performance with another bike. BMW’s R 1300 RS announcement.

BMW R 1300 RT: tourer
Also presented on April 29, the R 1300 RT is BMW’s tourer in the new R 1300 group. BMW describes it as intended for comfortable touring as well as dynamic country-road riding, with redesigned engine, chassis and aerodynamics. BMW R 12 G/S: adventure model
BMW Group’s 2025 annual report says the R 12 G/S was available from June 2025, placing it among the range’s adventure-oriented motorcycles that year. The report is retrospective: it supports the availability timing and its inclusion in the 2025 range, but it is not a contemporaneous reveal notice. BMW Group’s 2025 report.

2025 model-year bikes announced before 2025
BMW’s US model-year update was announced in November 2024. These motorcycles are new or updated for model year 2025, but they were not calendar-2025 announcements.
BMW R 1300 GS Adventure: new for model year 2025
BMW Motorrad USA identified the R 1300 GS Adventure as brand new for model year 2025. Its announcement highlights a 1,300 cc boxer engine, a new frame and bodywork, and optional ASA Automated Shift Assist, along with new electronic assist systems. It belongs in the adventure-oriented part of the lineup, rather than among the R 1300 roadster and touring models announced in April 2025. BMW F 900 R: updated roadster
The F 900 R received a model-year update, including Euro 5+ compliance, revised ergonomics, adjustable upside-down forks, lighter wheels and battery, and revised rear lighting. BMW also listed Dynamic Traction Control and ABS Pro as standard, alongside a Dynamic riding mode. BMW F 900 XR: updated crossover
BMW calls the F 900 XR a crossover bike. Its 2025 update adds improved wind and weather protection, standard hand protectors and heated grips, adjustable upside-down forks, lighter wheels and battery, and standard Dynamic Traction Control and ABS Pro with a Dynamic riding mode. BMW also lists adaptive Headlight Pro and a USB-C socket. The US announcement price was $11,995 plus destination in November 2024, likewise a historical market-specific figure. BMW’s other 2025 updates: six models, not six new platforms
BMW Group’s 2025 annual report lists six sport and roadster model updates introduced in the first half of the year: S 1000 RR, S 1000 R, F 900 XR, F 900 R, M 1000 RR and M 1000 R. The report identifies these as updates; it does not support describing all six as entirely new motorcycles or new platforms. How to read BMW’s 2025 motorcycle lineup
The lineup makes more sense when sorted by intended use and by whether the motorcycle was a new calendar-year announcement or a model-year update.
