The numbers are factory or crate-engine ratings tied to specific vehicles and configurations—not results from one standardized test. A HEMI’s displacement alone does not determine its output.

The list is ordered by the cited rating for each named application. Naturally aspirated production-car engines, supercharged production variants, and crate engines appear together because the title ranks major HEMI examples by horsepower; the context column shows what each figure describes.

How to read the rankings
The 5.7L rating depends on application
The 5.7L HEMI debuted in the 2003 Ram at 345 hp. Dodge lists a later 2026 Durango application at 360 hp, so the 345-hp entry is a specific debut rating, not a universal ceiling for the displacement. Stellantis’ 2019 HEMI history and Dodge’s 2026 Durango specifications document those separate examples.
The 425-hp entries are not the same engine
Dodge gives both the 2007 Charger SRT8’s 6.1L HEMI and the 1966 Charger’s 426 Street HEMI a 425-hp rating. They are distinct engines from different eras. For the classic car, Dodge also lists 490 lb-ft of torque. Dodge’s Charger timeline identifies the vehicle-specific figures.

There is another 426 figure that should not be conflated with the Street HEMI: Stellantis reports 350 net hp for a 1971 Gen II 426. The year and rating context differ, so neither number should be treated as a single output that applies to every 426. Stellantis’ HEMI history describes the 1971 net rating.
The 6.4L / 392 spans several ratings
The cited production examples progress from 470 hp in the 2012 Charger SRT8 to 475 hp in the 2026 Durango. Mopar lists 485 hp for its 6.4L crate engine, a separate crate configuration rather than a rating for every production 392. The Charger figure appears in Dodge’s timeline, the Durango rating in Dodge’s specifications, and the crate rating in Mopar’s crate-engine catalog.

Supercharged 6.2L figures reflect different versions
The cited production-car range starts at 707 hp for the 2015 Charger SRT Hellcat, reaches 797 hp in a Challenger Redeye, and includes 807-hp Super Stock and Jailbreak-related applications. The 2018 Challenger SRT Demon is rated at 840 hp. Dodge’s Charger timeline and 2023 Challenger specifications identify the Charger and Challenger examples; Stellantis’ HEMI history gives the Demon figure.
Crate engines add different points of comparison: Mopar lists the Hellcrate at 707 hp and the Hellcrate Redeye at 807 hp. Those catalog ratings are not additional production-car model-year ratings. The same Mopar catalog lists both engines.

The 1,000-hp Hellephant is a crate engine
Mopar rates its supercharged Hellephant 426 crate HEMI at 1,000 hp and 950 lb-ft of torque. It is an engine sold as a crate product, not a standard production-car 426. Mopar’s crate-engine catalog provides the rating.
What this ranking does—and does not—compare
These are published ratings attached to named vehicles, years, or crate configurations. They are not independent dyno results, and no single controlled cross-generation test establishes that every engine here was measured on the same basis. In particular, historical gross-era ratings should not be directly compared with modern net ratings as though they came from identical procedures. Read each horsepower figure with its application and context rather than treating a displacement badge as a guaranteed output.

Before choosing a crate HEMI
Horsepower is only one part of a swap or build decision. Confirm the exact engine’s fitment, required installation components, and current legal status for the intended vehicle and use. Mopar’s catalog warns that certain crate engines and kits are not legal for pollution-controlled vehicles or vehicles registered for highway use; the warning is product-specific, so check the current listing and applicable requirements for the exact engine.
