Nissan’s identified 2025 GT-R updates apply to two Japan-market trims: the GT-R Premium Edition T-spec and the GT-R Track Edition engineered by NISMO. Both received precision-balanced engine components Nissan says were previously exclusive to the GT-R NISMO Special Edition, plus new identification plates. Nissan describes the engine update as improving response, but does not publish a measured performance gain.
Which 2025 GT-R models changed?
Nissan announced the updates for Japan’s 2025 models, specifically the GT-R Premium Edition T-spec and the GT-R Track Edition engineered by NISMO. The announcement does not establish that these changes apply to every GT-R market or trim.
What changed on the 2025 GT-R?
Precision-balanced engine components
Both named trims received high-precision weight-balanced piston rings, connecting rods, and crankshafts. Nissan says these parts had previously been available only in the GT-R NISMO Special Edition. The manufacturer says the components are intended to deliver snappier revs and faster turbo spooling; it gives no measured time, percentage, or other quantified improvement in its 2025 Japan-market announcement.
Takumi and model-number plates
Both trims also received GT-R-exclusive aluminum Takumi certification name plates and gold-colored model-number plates in the engine compartment. These are identification details accompanying the engine update, not evidence of a broader redesign.

What the 2025 update does not establish
Nissan’s announcement identifies the shared changes above but does not provide a complete equipment comparison between the two trims. It also does not establish a price, production quantity, measured acceleration gain, or U.S. availability for these 2025 versions.
Nissan Japan’s archived Track Edition specifications page lists the high-precision balanced engine parts for 2025 and says listed vehicle production has ended. The page gives a model period of March 2024 through September 2025; that timing is specific to the Japan-market page and should not be assumed to describe every country. It also notes that the Track Edition T-spec’s dedicated carbon roof reduces weight by 4 kg. That is equipment context, not a newly announced 2025 change.

How this differs from the U.S. GT-R final editions
The U.S. editions are a separate model-year and market story. Nissan U.S. described the T-spec Takumi Edition and Skyline Edition as final limited-production R35 editions, building on changes already announced for the 2024 GT-R. Those editions should not be mistaken for the Japan-market 2025 update.
The U.S. Takumi Edition featured Midnight Purple paint, Mori Green interior trim, a Takumi engine badge, and a gold VIN plate. Nissan also listed carbon-ceramic brakes, gold-painted RAYS 20-inch forged wheels, NISMO-tuned Vehicle Dynamic Control, and wider front fenders as equipment shared with the standard 2024 T-spec.
