There is no defensible, apples-to-apples reliability league table for every 2026 Lexus SUV. The strongest current model-level evidence places the UX and GX in the top tier because both appear in J.D. Power’s 2026 award-recipient list. The GX also appeared in 2025, while the NX and RX have positive award evidence in the 2023 and 2024 studies. The LX, TX and battery-electric RZ do not have comparable model-specific evidence in the cited material, so assigning them exact positions would be guesswork.
How this ranking works
This is an evidence-tier ranking of the 2026 U.S. Lexus SUV lineup: GX, LX, NX, RX, RZ, TX and UX Hybrid. A tier reflects the recency and repeatability of cited model-level dependability evidence—not a claim that every vehicle in one tier is mechanically identical or that one model will outlast another.

J.D. Power’s Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) measures the type and number of problems owners of three-year-old vehicles experienced during the previous 12 months. Fewer reported problems produce a better score. The 2026 study covers 184 problem areas in nine categories and surveyed 33,268 original owners of 2023 model-year vehicles after three years of ownership. Fieldwork ran from December 2024 through November 2025.
That makes the results useful for comparing owner-reported dependability in a defined cohort, but they are not lifetime-survival data, repair-cost data, safety ratings or a guarantee for an individual used vehicle. Redesigns and different powertrains can also make a three-year-old result less predictive of a current model.

Tier A: the best-supported current choices
Lexus UX Hybrid
The UX is one of the two Lexus SUVs named among the 2026 VDS model-level award recipients. That is the freshest model-specific dependability signal in this comparison. Because the UX in the 2026 U.S. lineup is a hybrid, its result should be treated as evidence for that configuration and cohort—not automatically for every Lexus powertrain or for a different model.
Lexus GX
The GX also appears in the 2026 award-recipient list and was named in the 2025 list, giving it the strongest repeat recent signal in the available material. The two studies still represent different owner cohorts and model years, so the repeated recognition is encouraging rather than a precise prediction of every 2026 GX.

Tier B: strong historical signals, with more distance from 2026
Lexus NX
The NX receives model-level award recognition in the 2023 and 2024 VDS reports. Those results show favorable owner-reported dependability in the relevant cohorts, but they do not constitute a 2026 score. The current NX range includes gasoline, hybrid and plug-in-hybrid versions, with front- and all-wheel-drive availability for the NX 350h. Do not assume one powertrain’s experience represents the others.

The RX is also named in the 2023 and 2024 study reports. A separate 2024 Lexus RX page lists an 85/100 Quality & Reliability rating, but the page warns that it uses previous-year review data for the redesigned RX. That qualification is important: a carried-forward rating should not be read as a fresh, model-year-specific dependability measurement.

The 2026 RX lineup includes gasoline, hybrid and plug-in-hybrid variants. It is a five-seat, two-row SUV in the configurations described by the official 2026 information, so comparisons with three-row Lexus lines such as TX should account for size, packaging and powertrain differences.
Tier C: what cannot be ranked honestly yet
Lexus LX
The cited material does not provide a comparable current model-level award result for the LX. Its absence from a particular release is not evidence of poor reliability; it simply leaves too little common-scale data for a numerical placement.

Lexus TX
The TX likewise lacks a comparable model-specific result in the reviewed studies. As a newer three-row line, it should not be ranked beside the two-row RX or compact NX without matching owner data from the same type of study and cohort.

The RZ is a battery-electric SUV. No comparable model-level dependability award evidence is established for it in the cited material. Electric vehicles also have different propulsion and charging systems from gasoline and hybrid SUVs, so a direct reliability inference from another Lexus powertrain would be especially weak.

What the brand-level numbers do—and do not—tell you
Lexus ranks highly as a brand in the cited VDS releases, but brand results cannot be substituted for model scores:
- 151 problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) in J.D. Power’s 2026 premium-brand dependability result.
- 140 PP100 in the 2025 Lexus overall dependability result.
- 133 PP100 versus an 186-PP100 industry average in the 2023 Lexus result.
PP100 is a count of reported problems, not a percentage of vehicles that failed and not a forecast of repair bills or vehicle lifespan. A brand-leading number can coexist with meaningful differences among models, generations and powertrains.
Why the study years cannot be merged into one score

A redesign can change electronics, software, drivetrain components and user interfaces. The RX rating’s explicit warning about previous-year data demonstrates why a result from an older generation should be labeled historical rather than presented as a current score.
How to use the ranking when shopping
- Choose the comparison set first. Compare vehicles by size and seating role: UX and NX are not substitutes for three-row TX or full-size LX.
- Name the powertrain. State whether the vehicle is gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid or battery-electric. Reliability evidence for one configuration does not automatically transfer to another.
- Separate evidence types. An owner-reported VDS award, a review-site rating based on earlier data and a brand-level PP100 figure answer different questions.
- Check the exact model year and generation. A used 2021 RX and a redesigned 2026 RX should not be treated as the same reliability product.
- Investigate the individual vehicle. For a used SUV, review maintenance records, recalls, warranty work and the vehicle’s history. A history report can reveal records but cannot guarantee the vehicle’s condition.
Bottom line
For the 2026 U.S. Lexus lineup, the UX Hybrid and GX have the strongest recent model-level evidence. NX and RX remain well-supported by earlier award results, while LX, TX and RZ cannot be placed on the same scale from the cited data. Lexus’ strong brand PP100 results are reassuring, but the responsible choice still depends on the exact year, generation, seating class and powertrain you are considering.
