Ontario illustrates how requirements can vary. Its three-wheeled-vehicle pilot guidance, updated December 22, 2025, requires a federally approved three-wheeled vehicle designed for on-road use, an eligible driver’s licence, motorcycle registration, a seat belt, and an approved motorcycle helmet. The company also claims about 100 mpg for a design using a motorcycle power plant and describes an early two-seat vehicle weighing 302 pounds.
