A mooring buoy being towed by a black Toyota Land Cruiser struck a parked vehicle and then a power pole in Bicton late on 26 October 2024, tipping the towing vehicle onto its side, PerthNow reported. The driver, a man in his 60s, was taken to hospital as a precaution.
What happened in Bicton?
PerthNow, in a report published on 27 October 2024, said the incident occurred at about 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, 26 October. The driver was travelling east on Kent Street in a black Toyota Land Cruiser and turned left onto Point Walter Road.
As the vehicle turned, the mooring buoy it was towing swung out and hit a white Toyota Land Cruiser parked outside a home. The buoy then struck a power pole. PerthNow reported that the pole toppled and the black Land Cruiser tipped onto its side.

What was reported about the driver?
PerthNow said St John WA officers treated the driver at the scene before he was taken to Fiona Stanley Hospital as a precaution. The report did not provide a diagnosis or further information about his condition.
What was known about the investigation?
At the time PerthNow published its report on 27 October 2024, police inquiries were continuing. The available account does not establish a later investigation outcome, the cause beyond the reported swinging buoy, or whether the incident led to a power outage or utility follow-up.
