O’Reilly’s published store-services list does not include key-fob programming, so don’t assume a store can program your fob. Call your local store to confirm. O’Reilly sells vehicle-specific replacement remotes, but the programming method depends on the exact remote and vehicle.
Does O’Reilly program key fobs?
Key-fob programming is not listed among the services on O’Reilly’s store-services page. The page does list services such as battery testing, check-engine-light testing, wiper and bulb installation, and its loaner-tool program. That published list does not establish that every location refuses programming; call the store you plan to visit and ask about your vehicle and fob before making the trip.
Can you buy a replacement fob at O’Reilly?
O’Reilly lists replacement keyless-entry remotes for specific vehicle applications. Check the listing against your vehicle’s year, make, model, and any other application details before buying; a remote is not automatically compatible just because it is sold as a replacement key fob. For example, O’Reilly’s Dorman 13798 listing identifies a 2012 Ford F-150 application and says programming is required.
How might a replacement fob be programmed?
The method depends on the particular vehicle and remote. O’Reilly’s listings illustrate different requirements, so use the instructions for the exact product rather than applying a procedure from another vehicle.

What to confirm before buying or booking
- Vehicle and remote match: Check the exact vehicle application in the product listing.
- Programming method: Find out whether the remote uses an onboard procedure, a supplied OBD-II programmer, or a compatible scan tool.
- Existing key requirement: Check whether you need a working original key or fob.
- Instructions and equipment: Make sure you have the correct instructions and the skills or professional help needed for that procedure.
- Store service availability: Call your local O’Reilly and describe the vehicle and remote; purchasing a fob there does not by itself mean the store will program it.
Use the instructions for your exact remote
Dorman’s O’Reilly-hosted instructions describe a relearn sequence for a particular remote and vehicle, direct readers to the appropriate shop manual, and recommend a qualified technician if the reader lacks the necessary skill. Treat those directions as specific to that application—not as a general key-fob programming procedure.
