Which Hellcat is fastest?
Using the cited factory figures, the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye and Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye are tied for the quickest Hellcat-era reference. Both use the 797-hp Redeye specification, reach 60 mph in a published 3.4 seconds, and have a published 203-mph top speed.
That does not mean every Redeye will record 3.4 seconds or reach 203 mph. Those are controlled-condition manufacturer claims. Tire temperature, pavement, air density, fuel load, vehicle condition, launch settings, and the driver can all move the actual result in either direction.
Challenger SRT Hellcat: about 3.6 seconds and 199 mph
The Challenger is the model most closely associated with the Hellcat name. It applies the high-output HEMI formula to a rear-drive muscle car, and the standard Hellcat family is rated at 717 horsepower.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsThe commonly cited standard-Challenger reference is approximately 3.6 seconds to 60 mph and approximately 199 mph. Those numbers should not be printed as though they apply identically to every Challenger Hellcat. Before comparing a listing, test, or owner report, identify:
- the model year;
- the body style or wide-body configuration, where applicable;
- the transmission;
- the tires and their condition; and
- the exact performance specification, especially standard Hellcat versus Redeye.
The standard Hellcat and Hellcat Redeye are not interchangeable labels. The Redeye raises output to 797 hp and has the stronger published figures of 3.4 seconds to 60 mph and 203 mph. Calling a standard 717-hp Challenger a Redeye, or giving the Redeye’s top speed to every Hellcat, produces a misleading comparison.
Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye: 797 hp, 3.4 seconds, 203 mph
The Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye is the clearest answer for readers asking about the highest factory Hellcat-era performance figures in the cited material. Dodge lists it at 797 horsepower, with a published 0-60-mph time of 3.4 seconds and a published top speed of 203 mph.

The extra output matters, but acceleration is not determined by horsepower alone. Launch traction, tires, pavement, transmission calibration, and the conditions under which the run is measured are equally important to a short sprint. A road test that misses the quoted time is not necessarily evidence that the car is defective, just as a particularly favorable private run does not turn the result into a universal specification.
Charger SRT Hellcat: four-door performance with configuration-dependent figures
The Charger SRT Hellcat brings the Hellcat formula to a four-door sedan. Dodge’s historical material cited here lists the standard Charger SRT Hellcat at 707 horsepower, using a 2020-era reference.
Unlike the Redeye specification, the supplied factory references do not provide one universal 0-60-mph and top-speed number for every standard Charger Hellcat. The figures vary by model year and body style. That means the responsible answer for a specific car requires its year and exact configuration rather than borrowing the Challenger’s approximately 3.6-second and 199-mph figures.
For the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye, the cited factory reference is more definite: 797 hp, 3.4 seconds to 60 mph, and 203 mph. The Redeye’s numbers belong to that higher-output specification and should not be used for the standard 707-hp Charger.
Durango SRT Hellcat: 3.5 seconds to 60 mph and 180 mph
The Durango SRT Hellcat is the outlier in the family because it combines Hellcat-era power with three-row SUV utility. Dodge rated it at 710 horsepower, 3.5 seconds to 60 mph, and a 180-mph top speed.

Body shape, mass, gearing, tires, cooling, and electronic calibration all influence the result.

Dodge initially announced the Durango SRT Hellcat as a 2021-model-year-only vehicle and stated that 2,000 units would be built for that run. That was an original production announcement, not a promise of unlimited current new-car availability. When discussing the vehicle, “2021 Durango SRT Hellcat” is the safer and more precise description, and used-market availability should be checked separately.
Why a Hellcat’s real-world 0-60 time can differ
A 0-60-mph number is especially sensitive to the launch. It is not simply a measurement of peak horsepower. Differences can come from:
- Tires: compound, size, temperature, wear, and pressure affect how much power reaches the pavement.
- Pavement: prepared test surfaces can provide more consistent grip than ordinary public roads.
- Ambient conditions: temperature, altitude, and air density change engine and tire performance.
- Fuel and vehicle load: fuel level, occupants, cargo, and vehicle condition affect the launch.
- Driver technique: throttle application, reaction, and consistency matter even when electronic launch systems are available.
- Traction and launch settings: traction-control and launch-control settings can change how the car manages wheelspin.
- Transmission calibration: shift strategy and the exact transmission configuration can alter the result.
Dodge’s SRT documentation includes performance displays and timing functions. That is a reminder that these vehicles are designed to measure performance under defined operating conditions, not that the displayed or advertised number is guaranteed in every environment. A manufacturer claim, an independent magazine test, and an owner’s stopwatch result may all be valid measurements made under different conditions.

Why top speed varies between Hellcat models
Top speed is also configuration-dependent. The Redeye’s 203-mph figure should not be generalized to every Hellcat. A vehicle’s top-speed result depends on more than engine output, including:
- aerodynamic body shape;
- vehicle mass and gearing;
- tire capability and speed rating;
- cooling capacity during sustained high-speed operation; and
- electronic calibration or limitation.
The Durango’s official 180-mph rating illustrates the point. It uses the same broad Hellcat engine family but has a different SUV body, mass, cooling requirements, gearing, tires, and calibration. Its 3.5-second acceleration figure does not imply a 203-mph top speed.
Top-speed figures are for controlled, closed-course conditions. Do not attempt to verify them on public roads, and do not treat a vehicle’s theoretical capability as a safe or legal operating speed.

Hellcat versus the newer Charger Daytona
The end of the original HEMI-powered Charger and Challenger program after the 2023 model year is an important historical dividing line. Newer Charger Daytona performance models belong to a separate generation and should not automatically be called Hellcats.
Dodge’s 2024 Charger announcement described an all-electric Daytona Scat Pack with 670 horsepower and an expected 3.3-second 0-60-mph time. Current Dodge materials also present the 2026 Charger Daytona Scat Pack as a separate performance model. The announced 3.3-second target could be quicker from 0 to 60 mph than some older Hellcat versions, but it does not make the car a Hellcat, and an acceleration target should not be confused with a tested top-speed figure.
No Hellcat comparison should assign the Redeye’s 203-mph top speed to a newer Charger Daytona without a specific Dodge specification that says so. The electric or multi-energy Charger generation is a different product line, even when its acceleration numbers overlap or exceed older HEMI-era models.
Which Hellcat is right for the performance you want?
- Choose the Challenger SRT Hellcat for the classic rear-drive muscle-car identity and the standard 717-hp Hellcat experience.
- Choose the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye if the highest cited Challenger-era Hellcat output and the 3.4-second/203-mph factory reference are the priority.
- Choose the Charger SRT Hellcat for four-door practicality, while confirming the specific year and body style before comparing acceleration or top speed.
- Choose the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye for four-door access to the 797-hp Redeye specification and its cited 3.4-second/203-mph figures.
- Choose the Durango SRT Hellcat if three-row utility matters and 3.5-second acceleration is more useful than the highest top-speed rating.
Before modifying a Hellcat
Stock performance figures are easier to compare than modified ones. A tune, tire change, intake, exhaust component, cooling upgrade, or other modification does not automatically produce a particular 0-60-mph or top-speed improvement. Results depend on the complete combination, fitment, calibration, traction, operating conditions, legality, and the vehicle’s warranty position.
If you are researching factory-oriented upgrades, Mopar Direct Connection performance parts are the relevant category to investigate, including performance components and crate-engine offerings identified in Dodge and Mopar materials. Confirm that a part fits the exact model year and body style, determine whether tuning is required, understand tire limitations, and use qualified installation where appropriate. Parts availability and any applicable program should be verified before purchase.
Use the exact manual for the exact car
The SRT performance pages, timing functions, launch-related controls, warnings, and operating procedures can differ by model year and body style. A Dodge Challenger Hellcat owner’s manual can be useful as a reference, but it is not a performance upgrade and is not universal across every Hellcat. Check the manual’s year, model, body style, and edition compatibility before buying.
For any acceleration testing, use a legal closed course, follow the manufacturer’s instructions, inspect the tires and vehicle beforehand, and leave high-speed testing to a properly controlled facility. Public-road launch or top-speed attempts put other road users at risk and may violate local law.

Bottom line
The quickest cited Hellcat-era factory figures are 3.4 seconds to 60 mph and 203 mph, shared by the 797-hp Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye and Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye. The standard Challenger Hellcat is about 3.6 seconds and 199 mph, while the 710-hp Durango SRT Hellcat is rated at 3.5 seconds and 180 mph. For a standard Charger Hellcat, identify the year and body style before quoting a number. And do not confuse the newer Charger Daytona’s separate electric or multi-energy performance models with the discontinued HEMI-powered Hellcat program.
