Lead Stories also identified inconsistencies in the alleged warning and a purported cease-and-desist letter. The reporting does not establish why the truck stopped or how the warning appeared.
What did the viral video claim?
Lead Stories reported that Big Huey posted the clip to Instagram on August 10, 2025. It appeared to show his Cybertruck stopped on a highway alongside a warning that allegedly told him to return to a dealer. The claim was that Tesla had disabled the truck because of a music video.

Big Huey had published a YouTube video titled “Cybertruck” on July 19, 2025, and posted an alleged cease-and-desist letter dated August 1, 2025. Those dates are reported context, not evidence that Tesla acted against the vehicle.
What did Tesla say?
On August 11, 2025, Tesla’s official X account responded: “This is fake – that’s not our screen.” It added: “Tesla does NOT disable vehicles remotely.” The statements were issued by Tesla’s account; the reviewed reporting does not name an individual speaker. Lead Stories’ fact-check records the denial.

What made the screen and letter look suspicious?
- The warning’s wording: The purported alert reportedly instructed the driver to “return to dealer.” Lead Stories noted that Tesla sells directly to consumers rather than using a dealership model, making that wording conspicuous.
- The letter’s title: The alleged letter named Dinna Eskin as “Sr. Director and Deputy General Counsel.” Lead Stories reported that her then-current title was “VP, Legal.” That discrepancy supports skepticism about the letter’s authenticity, but does not establish who created it.
Drive Tesla Canada’s August 12, 2025 report also recorded Tesla’s denial and described anomalies in the purported letter and dashboard alert. It is secondary coverage, not an independent technical examination of the truck.
What is—and is not—established?
The supported conclusion is that Tesla denied the claim and said the screen was not its screen; Lead Stories also reported inconsistencies in the warning and letter. The reviewed reporting does not establish what caused the Cybertruck to stop, whether it was actually inoperable, or how the warning was put on the display. Those unanswered questions should not be filled with speculation.

Can Tesla disable a Cybertruck remotely?
For this viral claim, Tesla stated that it does not disable vehicles remotely. That statement addresses the allegation in the video; it should not be expanded into a technical guarantee about every vehicle function or every possible situation.
