The company says the track-only car makes 900 hp at approximately 9,500 rpm, has a 10,200-rpm redline and will be limited to 18 units worldwide. The often-cited $3 million price is historical reporting, not a confirmed current P900 price.
What is the De Tomaso P900?
The P900 is a limited-production, track-focused hypercar from De Tomaso Automobili. The company says it is configured exclusively for track use “at this time,” and has announced a production limit of 18 units worldwide. That is a manufacturer-stated plan, not confirmation that all cars have been built or delivered.
Its appearance is the source of the extraterrestrial comparison in the original headline; that is a visual impression, not a technical designation. The more consequential update is under the bodywork: De Tomaso has revised the engine specification.
Why the P900’s engine is now listed as 7.0 liters
On February 24, 2026, De Tomaso announced what it calls the P900’s final engine specification: a naturally aspirated 7.0-liter V12 developed with ItalTecnica. That later manufacturer announcement supersedes earlier 6.2-liter descriptions for current coverage.

The older figure has not disappeared from every published record. ANSA reported a 6.2-liter engine on February 4, 2026, and De Tomaso’s 2026 Form 20-F also describes a 6.2-liter engine. Those references conflict with the company’s later February 24 announcement; they do not establish the final specification. For the latest announced configuration, the 7.0-liter V12 is the relevant figure.

These are company specifications, not independently tested results. De Tomaso has said the car is advancing toward first customer builds; that statement does not confirm that customer deliveries have taken place.
Is the P900 really a $3 million car?
Not on the basis of a confirmed current, model-specific price. ANSA reported at least $3 million as a price announced in 2022. That is historical reporting, not proof of today’s P900 transaction price.

De Tomaso’s official registration page displays a starting figure of €1,600,000 plus tax and shipping, but does not clearly identify that amount as the P900’s price. It should not be treated as a current P900 quote. The available figures therefore do not establish what a buyer would pay for this model now, and should not be compared as if both were confirmed P900 prices.

The latest engine announcement gives a clear revised specification, but it is not a substitute for independent performance testing or evidence of completed customer deliveries. The P900 is best understood from the available information as an announced, track-only V12 hypercar with a stated 18-car limit, manufacturer-claimed engine figures and no clearly confirmed current model-specific price.
