But no production model has been confirmed: there is no announced specification, launch date, or sales plan. For now, a V8 Grenadier that rivals the Mercedes-AMG G63 remains a possibility, not a confirmed vehicle.
What INEOS actually showed
At the 2024 Goodwood Festival of Speed, INEOS Automotive displayed a V8-powered Grenadier Station Wagon as one of several prototypes it described as “potential future Grenadier variants.” The company did not announce it as a production model. INEOS’s July 11, 2024 announcement framed the vehicles as explorations of what the Grenadier platform might support.
The prototype replaced the Grenadier’s BMW 3.0-litre straight-six petrol engine with a GM 6.2-litre V8. INEOS stated that the V8 produced 317 kW and 625 Nm. Those figures describe the displayed prototype only; they are not announced specifications for a future customer vehicle. INEOS’s release does not provide a production plan for this version.
What the 2026 comments mean—and what they do not
In a report published March 11, 2026, Autoblog quoted Justin Hocevar, INEOS Australia’s head, saying: “We’d like to see something like that come here.” The remark signals interest in a more powerful Grenadier for Australia; it is not an announcement that the company has approved a V8 model for sale. Autoblog’s report also characterized the response to the concept among customers, dealers, and distributors as enthusiastic, but gave no survey, sales figure, or other quantified measure.

It can create a stronger visual appeal and express your personality, and can also be given as a gift.
The distinction matters: a prototype can demonstrate that an engine has been fitted to a vehicle, while a production decision also requires a business case, engineering work, and a market plan. The remarks reported so far establish executive interest, not a commitment to build or sell a V8 Grenadier.
Why a production V8 remains uncertain
Autoblog reported that putting the V8 into mass production would require re-engineering components and would raise costs. It also reported that INEOS would retain BMW’s B57 diesel and B58 petrol engines for now. Hocevar pointed to potential for higher outputs from those engines, noting that BMW and Toyota use more powerful versions in some vehicles and that aftermarket solutions have been tested. The report does not say that any such higher-output Grenadier has been approved.

There is also a limit to what can be inferred about the prototype’s build. CarExpert search-result coverage described it as a one-off built by Magna engineering apprentices, but that attribution is secondary reporting. It does not change the central point: INEOS’s own announcement called it a prototype, not a production vehicle.

That comparison is a useful shorthand for the idea of a powerful, premium off-roader, but it is not evidence of an announced head-to-head competitor. The G63 framing has appeared in coverage of the concept; INEOS has not announced a production V8 Grenadier with confirmed output, price, availability, or other specifications that would support a direct comparison.
