Most of the target dates attached to them have already passed as of October 2026, so each entry below states what the manufacturer announced, when, and whether the claim is a plan, a model-year specification, or a development target. Confirm arrival and availability in your own market before you shop.
How this guide was put together
There is no single target market. The entries come from manufacturer announcements for North America, Europe, Japan and India, and no buyer budget is assumed. This is not a ranked top ten. “Cool” is a matter of taste, and no independent measure ranks these models against each other. The selection rule is narrower: each entry is a model named in an official manufacturer release, with a timing claim attached.
Three kinds of claim appear below, and they should not be treated as interchangeable:
- Plans are a company’s stated intent, such as a product roadmap published years in advance.
- Model-year information is what a manufacturer publishes for a named model year and trim.
- Development targets are engineering goals, such as battery size or charging time, that can change before a vehicle is certified or sold.

Jeep: the electric plan, Cherokee and Wrangler
In September 2022, Stellantis announced that the Jeep brand planned to become the leading electrified SUV brand. Chief executive Carlos Tavares said: “Today’s news from Jeep brand is yet another example of how our American brands are transforming themselves to support our aggressive decarbonization plans.”

Jeep Recon
The 2022 release said Jeep planned four all-electric SUVs for North America and Europe by 2025, and it named the Recon among them. That is a plan. The release does not confirm delivery counts or on-sale dates, so check the Recon’s current status in your market separately.
Jeep Wagoneer S
The Wagoneer S was named in the same 2022 plan, with the same four-model target for North America and Europe. Like the Recon, it should be treated as a stated intention rather than a confirmed launch.

Jeep Avenger
The Avenger was the European entry in the 2022 plan, with a launch in Europe stated for early 2023. Verify its availability in the country where you plan to buy, since a European launch does not imply the same model is sold elsewhere.
Jeep Cherokee
On May 29, 2025, Jeep announced the all-new Cherokee for late 2025 arrival. It is a hybrid-option SUV positioned between the Compass and the Grand Cherokee. Jeep CEO Bob Broderdorf said: “The All-New Jeep Cherokee headlines our efforts to deliver more product, innovation, choice and standard content to customers than ever before.” The announcement projected a late-2025 arrival; it does not establish that the Cherokee is sold in every market, so confirm availability where you live.

Jeep Wrangler (2025 model year)
Stellantis’s 2025 model-year material lists gasoline and plug-in hybrid powertrains, with Sahara and Rubicon variants. The Wrangler 4xe is quoted at up to 52 km of all-electric range on the urban cycle. That is a test-cycle figure, not a general real-world range, and it should not be compared with ranges measured on a different cycle.
Chevrolet Equinox, 2025 model year
Chevrolet’s January 23, 2024 announcement covered the 2025 Equinox in LT, RS and ACTIV trims. ACTIV is described as the first outdoor-inspired Equinox trim, with all-terrain tires and an available two-tone roof among its listed features. Chevrolet vice president Scott Bell said: “The 2025 Equinox brings to one of our most important nameplates bodylines and proportions inspired by our brand’s truck DNA, also adopted in the upcoming Traverse.” The announcement does not state the powertrain in the cited text, so confirm the engine for each trim before comparing. The 2025 model year is complete, so current pricing and specifications should come from Chevrolet’s current model pages.

Toyota bZ4X and bZ Woodland
Toyota’s 2025 release covers two battery-electric SUVs for two different markets. Keep the market and timing statements separate.
Toyota bZ4X (Japan)
The partially redesigned bZ4X was scheduled for Japan in the second half of 2025. This is a Japan timing claim and says nothing about North American availability.

Toyota bZ Woodland (North America)
The bZ Woodland was scheduled for North America in early 2026. Toyota gave three development targets: a 74.7 kWh battery, approximately 260 miles of range in EPA mode, and a rapid-charge time of approximately 30 minutes at −10°C. These are targets, not final ratings. Compare them with the published EPA ratings once the vehicle is certified, and do not treat the 30-minute figure as a guaranteed charge time in cold weather.
Škoda’s compact SUV for India
On February 27, 2024, Škoda India announced a sub-four-metre compact SUV for India, planned for the first half of 2025 on the MQB-A0-IN platform. The announcement said a naming contest was under way, so no model name is established by that release. Shoppers should search by the platform and size description until a name is confirmed by Škoda India.

Checklist before you act on any of these
- Confirm the model year and the country you will buy in. Each announcement above is tied to a specific year and market.
- Separate plan dates from on-sale dates. A 2022 or 2024 release is evidence of intent, not proof of current availability.
- For range and charging, use the final rating for your market and test cycle. Do not compare an urban-cycle figure with an EPA figure.
- Treat battery sizes, range and charging times described as targets as provisional until the manufacturer publishes final specifications.
- Check which powertrains each trim offers, since gasoline, hybrid, plug-in hybrid and battery-electric versions often differ by trim and market.
- Do not shop by a model name that has not been confirmed by the manufacturer.
