The Complete List of Car Manufacturers Supported by Android Auto contains 70 Google-listed manufacturer or brand entries. Google gives a minimum model year for most entries, while Dacia, Koenigsegg, Lada, and Lifan are marked “Coming soon.” The directory does not guarantee support for every model, trim, region, or infotainment system.

Google’s list is a manufacturer-level starting point rather than a vehicle-by-vehicle compatibility guarantee. Use the linked official directory for the latest status, then confirm the exact vehicle and infotainment system with the manufacturer or dealer before assuming that Android Auto—or wireless Android Auto—will work.

Key takeaways

  • Google’s official Android Auto vehicle directory lists 70 manufacturer or brand entries.
  • Dacia, Koenigsegg, Lada, and Lifan are marked “Coming soon” rather than given a current model-year threshold.
  • A Google-listed model year is a starting point, not a guarantee that every model, trim, infotainment package, or regional version supports Android Auto.
  • Wired Android Auto requires an Android phone running Android 9.0 or higher, an active data plan, a compatible car, and a high-quality USB cable.
  • Wireless Android Auto requires a compatible phone with an active data plan and 5 GHz Wi-Fi support, plus a compatible car or stereo; a wireless adapter cannot add Android Auto to a vehicle that lacks wired Android Auto.

What car manufacturers support Android Auto?

Google’s official Android Auto vehicle directory lists the following 70 manufacturers and brands. The “models from” column is the minimum model year shown in Google’s directory, not a promise that every vehicle built from that year supports Android Auto.

Google separately says that “Android Auto works with over 500 models, with more on the way.” The difference is that the table below counts manufacturer or brand entries, while Google’s broader figure refers to individual vehicle models. Check the official Android Auto vehicle compatibility directory for the live list because manufacturer coverage and labels can change.

How should you interpret the model-year labels?

A label such as “Models from 2017+” means Google identifies some vehicles from that manufacturer beginning with the 2017 model year; it does not mean Android Auto was installed in every vehicle from that brand from 2017 onward.

The model-year label should not be treated as the exact year Android Auto started in a brand. A manufacturer may offer Android Auto only with particular models, trims, option packages, markets, or infotainment systems. For example, Google lists Kia and Maruti Suzuki from 2014+, Hyundai from 2015+, and Luxgen from 2024+, but those labels still require model-specific confirmation.

The four entries marked “Coming soon”—Dacia, Koenigsegg, Lada, and Lifan—do not have a current model-year threshold in Google’s directory. “Coming soon” should not be converted into current support or interpreted as a guarantee of a particular release date.

Why doesn’t a listed manufacturer guarantee Android Auto in my car?

A manufacturer listing is not universal compatibility because Android Auto support can depend on the exact vehicle, trim, infotainment package, country, and connection method. Google warns that product availability, features, and compatibility can vary by region, carrier, and device, and its setup guidance tells owners to confirm specific compatibility with the vehicle manufacturer or dealer.

Before assuming that a listed brand supports Android Auto in a particular car, verify these details:

  1. Exact model and model year: Use the vehicle’s precise name and year rather than the manufacturer name alone.
  2. Trim and infotainment package: Check whether Android Auto is limited to a particular screen, multimedia system, or option package.
  3. Factory or aftermarket equipment: A replacement stereo may have different compatibility from the original factory head unit.
  4. Wired or wireless operation: A car may support Android Auto through USB without supporting wireless projection.
  5. Country or region: Equipment and feature availability can differ between regional versions of the same vehicle.
  6. Phone and connection requirements: The phone’s Android version, active data plan, USB cable, and wireless capability all matter.

Google’s official Android Auto setup guidance specifically recommends contacting the car manufacturer to find out whether a specific car model is compatible with wireless Android Auto. The manufacturer’s owner’s manual, compatibility checker, or dealer support is therefore the final check—not the brand-level table alone.

How can you check whether your specific car has Android Auto?

The fastest reliable method is to identify the exact factory infotainment system and compare it with the manufacturer’s documentation, then test the correct wired or wireless connection.

AAWireless Two – Wireless Android Auto Adapter – Convert Factory Wired Android Auto to Wireless – Bluetooth & Wi-Fi Auto Connect – Easy Plug & Play – Multifunction Button – Made in Europe
  • Compatible with wired-only Android Auto systems
  • Requires Android 11+
  • Multifunctional button for easy phone pairing and switching
  • Connects unlimited phones, perfect for road trips
  • Plug & play setup, no tech skills needed
  1. Record the exact vehicle details. Write down the manufacturer, model, model year, trim, and infotainment or multimedia-system name.
  2. Check the owner’s manual and manufacturer resources. Look for Android Auto under smartphone integration, connected services, projection, or infotainment features. If the documentation is unclear, ask a dealer using the full vehicle and infotainment details.
  3. Determine whether support is wired or wireless. Do not assume that a vehicle with wired Android Auto also supports wireless Android Auto.
  4. For wired Android Auto, use a compatible USB connection. Connect the phone with a high-quality USB cable and use the vehicle’s compatible USB port.
  5. For wireless Android Auto, check both sides of the connection. The car or stereo must support wireless Android Auto, and the phone must meet Google’s wireless requirements.
  6. Confirm regional and device compatibility. A feature shown in a global or manufacturer directory may not be available on the regional vehicle or phone configuration.

Android Auto is integrated into current Android phones for the car-display experience, so Google says users do not need to download a separate Android Auto app for that experience. The integrated software does not remove the need for a compatible vehicle, stereo, cable, phone, or data connection.

What are the wired and wireless Android Auto phone requirements?

Wired and wireless Android Auto have different phone and connectivity requirements. Google lists the following requirements in its official setup documentation:

Wired versus wireless Android Auto requirements
Connection type Phone requirements Vehicle or stereo requirement What you need to connect
Wired Android Auto Android 9.0 or higher and an active data plan A compatible car or aftermarket stereo A high-quality USB cable and a compatible USB connection
Wireless Android Auto A compatible Android phone with an active data plan and 5 GHz Wi-Fi support; Google states that wireless projection is compatible with phones running Android 11.0 A compatible car or stereo with wireless Android Auto support Wireless pairing and the phone’s 5 GHz Wi-Fi capability; no regular USB connection for projection

Meeting the phone requirements alone does not make Android Auto available. The vehicle or stereo must provide the corresponding Android Auto capability, and availability can vary by region, carrier, and device.

Can you add Android Auto to an older car?

Yes, an older car can often gain Android Auto through an aftermarket stereo, but a wireless adapter is not a substitute for a compatible head unit. The correct upgrade depends on whether the original system already supports wired Android Auto.

Which Android Auto upgrade is right for your car?
Your starting point Appropriate solution What the solution does Important limitation
Factory system already supports wired Android Auto Wireless Android Auto adapter Uses the existing wired Android Auto connection to provide wireless projection Does not add Android Auto to a car or stereo that lacks wired Android Auto
Factory system has no Android Auto Aftermarket Android Auto stereo or head unit Replaces or upgrades the original infotainment system with a compatible receiver Dashboard fit, wiring, steering-wheel controls, backup-camera integration, and installation are vehicle-specific
Factory system is uncertain or heavily integrated Vehicle-specific compatibility check and, if needed, qualified installation Confirms whether the receiver can work with the vehicle’s existing systems Manufacturer and vehicle details must be checked before buying equipment

What aftermarket stereos work with Android Auto?

Google maintains a separate Android Auto stereo compatibility directory for aftermarket equipment. The directory includes brands such as Adayo, Alpine, Bauhn, Blaupunkt, Boss Audio Systems, Caska, Clarion, CVTE, Digiland, Dual, Evus, Grundig, iNav, JBL, Jensen, JVC, Kenwood, Macrom, MMAUTO, Nakamichi, Norauto Sound, Panasonic, Pioneer, Planet Audio, Prology, Skypine, Smart Auto, Sony, UniMax, and Zenec.

Those brand entries do not prove that every receiver fits every dashboard. Before choosing an aftermarket Android Auto stereo, verify the receiver’s physical size, vehicle-specific wiring harness, steering-wheel-control interface, backup-camera integration, USB arrangement, and installation requirements. A receiver can support Android Auto while still needing additional hardware or professional installation to work correctly in a particular vehicle.

For examples of the type of equipment available, Pioneer’s official Android Auto receiver catalog includes wireless CarPlay and Android Auto models as well as double-DIN receivers. Kenwood’s official documentation explains that compatible Kenwood Wi-Fi receivers support Android Auto wirelessly and require an Android Auto-compatible vehicle or aftermarket stereo.

Which cars support wireless Android Auto?

Google’s manufacturer directory does not by itself identify which exact cars support wireless Android Auto. Wireless support must be confirmed for the specific model, trim, infotainment system, region, and phone combination.

  • Important Compatibility Check - PLEASE READ: This adapter is ONLY compatible with cars equipped with Factory Wired CarPlay or Android Auto (Model Years 2016-2025). ❌ NOT compatible with BMW, Tesla, or vehicles without a wired system. For Android Users: Requires a phone running Android 11 or later with "Wireless Android Auto" enabled. Includes USB-A to USB-C adapter for wider port compatibility.

Wireless Android Auto requires a compatible car or stereo, a compatible Android phone, an active data plan, and 5 GHz Wi-Fi support. Google states that wireless projection is compatible with phones running Android 11.0. A vehicle that supports Android Auto only through USB is compatible with wired Android Auto, not necessarily with wireless projection.

Can you make wired Android Auto wireless?

Yes. If the car or stereo already supports wired Android Auto, a wireless Android Auto adapter can provide a wireless connection without replacing the head unit. The adapter is not an Android Auto upgrade for an otherwise incompatible factory system.

Motorola’s MA1 documentation describes an adapter that plugs into an existing Android Auto-enabled USB port, pairs with the phone through Bluetooth, and uses 5 GHz Wi-Fi for wireless Android Auto. A product such as Motorola MA1 is therefore intended for a car or truck with factory-fitted wired Android Auto, not for a vehicle with no Android Auto capability. AAWireless describes the same limitation: “If your car supports wired-only Android Auto, you can use the AAWireless Android Auto adapter to make Android Auto wireless.”

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Readers comparing an adapter should first confirm that wired Android Auto works in the vehicle. The Motorola MA1 product information, Motorola’s MA1 specification sheet, and AAWireless compatibility information all describe this adapter category as dependent on an existing compatible wired Android Auto connection.

What should you verify before buying an Android Auto adapter or stereo?

Use this checklist before spending money on an Android Auto upgrade:

  • Confirm the factory capability first. Buy a wireless adapter only if the existing system already supports wired Android Auto.
  • Identify the exact vehicle configuration. Model year, trim, infotainment package, and region can change compatibility.
  • Choose the right connection type. Confirm whether the goal is wired Android Auto, wireless Android Auto, or both.
  • Check the phone. Wired use requires Android 9.0 or higher and an active data plan; wireless use requires the stated wireless phone and 5 GHz Wi-Fi requirements.
  • Check physical and electronic integration for a stereo. Verify dashboard fit, wiring harnesses, steering-wheel controls, backup-camera integration, and USB connections before purchase.
  • Confirm installation requirements. A vehicle-specific receiver installation may need additional integration hardware or an installer familiar with the vehicle.
  • Recheck product availability and specifications. Product pages, regional availability, and receiver lineups can change, so do not treat a current product listing or feature as permanent.

Bottom line

Google’s complete Android Auto manufacturer directory contains 70 entries, but manufacturer support is only the first filter. Dacia, Koenigsegg, Lada, and Lifan are marked “Coming soon,” while every other listed brand has a Google-provided model-year threshold that still requires exact model, trim, infotainment, regional, and wired-or-wireless verification. For an unsupported older car, choose an aftermarket Android Auto stereo; for a car with wired Android Auto, choose a compatible wireless adapter.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Google lists 70 Android Auto manufacturer or brand entries, but the list is not a guarantee for every vehicle. Confirm the exact model, year, trim, infotainment system, region, phone, and connection type before buying an adapter or stereo.
