The Koenigsegg Jesko’s 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 is rated at 1,280 hp on gasoline and 1,600 hp on E85, according to Koenigsegg’s current Jesko Attack specifications. A CarThrottle report on Christian von Koenigsegg’s engine-facility tour also describes a dyno demonstration, but its readings are test results—not the manufacturer’s ratings.
What engine powers the Koenigsegg Jesko?
Koenigsegg specifies an aluminum 5.0-liter V8 with twin turbochargers, a flat-plane crankshaft, double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder and dry-sump lubrication for the Jesko Attack. The current specification lists a 9.0:1 compression ratio, a 92 mm bore and a 95.25 mm stroke. Koenigsegg’s Jesko Attack technical specifications are the reference for these current figures.
The engine weighs 189 kg. Its fuel system uses sequential multipoint injection, while sensors monitor pressure in individual cylinders and exhaust back pressure. Koenigsegg also lists closed-loop individual combustion and lambda control, systems intended to manage combustion and fueling with precision.
How much power does it make on gasoline and E85?
Koenigsegg rates the Jesko Attack engine at 1,280 hp at 7,800 rpm on gasoline and 1,600 hp on E85. The manufacturer notes that E85 availability depends on the market; the higher rating therefore depends on access to suitable fuel. These are manufacturer-rated specifications, not figures from the CarThrottle dyno demonstration. Koenigsegg’s current specifications list a redline of 8,500 rpm.

| Fuel and figure | Manufacturer-rated output | Qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Gasoline | 1,280 hp at 7,800 rpm | Koenigsegg Jesko Attack specification |
| E85 | 1,600 hp | Availability depends on market, per Koenigsegg |
The same specification lists 1,000 Nm of torque from 2,700 to 6,170 rpm, with a maximum of 1,500 Nm at 5,100 rpm. Boost is listed at 1.7 bar, rising to 2.2 bar with E85.
What is distinctive about the flat-plane V8?
A flat-plane crankshaft arranges the crank throws 180 degrees apart. Koenigsegg’s March 3, 2019 launch announcement described a new 180-degree flat-plane crankshaft as one part of the Jesko engine redesign. The announcement also highlighted a new intake, larger turbochargers with air injection, and more precise pressure control. Koenigsegg’s 2019 Jesko launch announcement provides that original description.

The supporting hardware and control strategy matter alongside the crankshaft. The current specification lists twin ceramic ball-bearing turbochargers with Koenigsegg’s response system, a carbon-fiber intake manifold with optimized tracts, and a TIG-welded, ceramic-coated Inconel exhaust with a merge collector. Together, these are part of the engine package Koenigsegg specifies; the crankshaft alone does not account for its output.
What did the CarThrottle dyno demonstration show?
In a report published November 16, 2023, Ryan Hirons of CarThrottle described Christian von Koenigsegg touring the facility where the V8 is made and a dyno demonstration. The account reports 1,592 bhp and 1,173 lb-ft on E85, then 1,271 bhp and 1,266 lb-ft on 95 RON pump fuel. Read CarThrottle’s account of the tour and dyno demonstration.

|---|---|---|
| E85 | 1,592 bhp and 1,173 lb-ft, as reported November 16, 2023 | 1,600 hp |

The reported readings are close to Koenigsegg’s headline ratings, but they are not interchangeable evidence: one source gives manufacturer specifications, while the other reports results from a particular demonstration. CarThrottle’s account does not establish standardized conditions for comparing those dyno numbers with other engines or tests.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why do some sources list a different compression ratio?
Koenigsegg’s current Jesko Attack page specifies 9.0:1. Older or localized dealer pages have surfaced with 8.6:1, so figures may differ across listings. For the current Attack specification, use the manufacturer’s current 9.0:1 figure rather than applying that value—or the discrepancy—to every Jesko variant.
