His Triumph teammate Camden McLellan won that race, helping secure a landmark day: Farres took the riders’ title, McLellan finished second in the standings, and Triumph won the manufacturers’ championship.
How Farres clinched the 2026 MX2 championship
At the Australian finale, Farres needed only to finish the first moto to secure the title. McLellan won it, with Farres crossing the line second. Farres then finished fourth in the second race, according to AS’s report.

AS reported final totals of 904 points for Farres and 868 for McLellan. Triumph’s season announcement gives Farres a 36-point advantage. The points totals here are attributed to AS; an official final championship table is not cited.

The title was the culmination of a rapid progression in MX2. Triumph made its championship debut at Patagonia, Argentina, in March 2024, where Mikkel Haarup finished third overall. The team recorded its first MX2 podium that year, then McLellan delivered its first moto victory in April 2025.

In 2026, McLellan earned Triumph’s first overall Grand Prix win in Spain at round two and briefly held the red plate. Farres claimed his first Grand Prix victory in France, where Triumph also achieved its first overall one-two. He took the championship lead after winning the British GP in July and held it through the Australian finale.
Triumph says the 2026 achievement came in its third MX2 season and was its first FIM motocross world title. The company also describes it as the first world motocross title for a British manufacturer since 1965; that historical comparison is Triumph’s claim.

Farres supplied the title-winning consistency and results; McLellan’s wins made the championship a team success as well as a one-two in the riders’ standings. Triumph credits the pair with 11 Grand Prix victories out of 19, 21 moto wins and 26 podium finishes. They recorded eight double podiums and four one-two finishes.

These season statistics are reported by Triumph. McLellan’s moto-win count is not stated in the cited release, so the team’s total of 21 should not be used to infer his individual figure.
McLellan won the final two rounds in China and Australia, according to Triumph. In Australia, his opening-moto victory turned the title-clinching moment into a one-two for the teammates. Farres said: “We wrapped up the championship in the first race, with Camden taking the win and me finishing second, which was an amazing feeling.”

McLellan, who finished second in the championship, said: “I unfortunately fell a little bit short of the world championship, but Guillem was the better rider this year, so huge congratulations to him.”
Which bike Triumph raced in MX2
Triumph identifies the TF 250-X as the motocross bike raced by Farres and McLellan. That links the championship campaign to the production model, but does not establish that a retail TF 250-X is identical to the team’s factory race machines.

Triumph’s published product description lists KYB suspension, Brembo brakes, Pro Taper bars, D.I.D wheels, launch control, traction control, a quickshifter and dual engine maps. The company also quotes maximum power of 47.3 PS at 13,750 rpm. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent testing or a comparison with rival bikes.
Triumph Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent said the company entered motocross “with a clear ambition to build championship-winning motorcycles and establish ourselves at the front of the sport.” Ian Kimber, Head of Global Racing Programmes, said racing develops the product in real time and that collaboration between the original-equipment and race teams has been pivotal to the off-road project.
