Celebrity Car Collections You Need to See to Believe

From Jay Leno’s century-spanning garage to Porsche-linked stories and movie-car museums, these collections stand out for their variety and provenance—not a dubious value ranking.

Jay Leno’s collection stands out for its sweep across automotive history; Jerry Seinfeld’s public image is closely tied to Porsche; and museums offer a different experience altogether: cars linked to celebrities and entertainment, not necessarily cars those celebrities still own. The most interesting collections are about variety and provenance—not a trustworthy “richest celebrity garage” ranking.

What makes a celebrity car collection worth seeing?

A remarkable collection can tell more than one story. It might trace changing technology, bring together a distinctive marque, or preserve vehicles tied to a film or a famous owner. Those are different kinds of provenance: a privately held car, a vehicle once owned by a celebrity, and a screen-used prop are not interchangeable.

That distinction matters when deciding what to visit. A private collection may not be open to the public, while a museum can display cars with celebrity or screen connections without claiming that the celebrity owns them. Displays also change, so an exhibit page is a starting point—not a guarantee that a particular car will be there on your visit.

Jay Leno: a century of automotive variety

The Henry Ford describes Jay Leno’s Big Dog Garage collection as spanning 100 years of automotive history. Its categories include antique vehicles, hot rods, muscle cars, steam cars, electric cars, rare cars, and more than 60 motorcycles, including a turbine motorcycle. That range is the collection’s defining feature: it brings very different eras and approaches to vehicle design under one roof. The Henry Ford’s Jay Leno’s Garage collection page presents the scope through expert-insight clips.

Steam and turbine examples

The Henry Ford page references a clip about a 1907 White steam touring car and another about a 1963 Chrysler gas turbine sedan. They illustrate the unusual engineering represented in the material, but the page’s references to those vehicles are not proof that either remains in Leno’s current inventory.

Jerry Seinfeld and the Porsche connection

Seinfeld is strongly associated with Porsche, but a memorable car appearing alongside him is not by itself evidence of present ownership. In a February 19, 2015 account, Porsche Newsroom described Seinfeld as a Porsche fan and Leno as a collector of vintage cars, current sports cars, and motorcycles. It reported that the two drove a 1949 Porsche 356/2 in an episode of Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Porsche said the car was number 40 in a limited production series of 52. These are details about the car featured in that episode, not a current inventory or ownership record for either comedian; the manufacturer’s article also cautions that its information may be outdated. Read Porsche Newsroom’s 2015 account.

KiNSMART 2010 Porsche 911 GT2 RS Aqua Blue 1/36 Scale Diecast Metal Model Toy Sports Car
  • Doors Open
  • Pullback Action
  • Die Cast Metal Body
  • PULL BACK ACTION WITH FREE ROLLING WHEELS

The story includes Seinfeld’s remark about the car: “Hand-built in Gmund, everything’s original,” as he points to an engraving inside it. The appeal here is as much the car’s documented history and Porsche connection as the celebrity encounter.

Where can you see celebrity cars?

Museums provide a public route to cars associated with famous owners, films, and television—but their collections are not the same thing as a celebrity’s personal garage. Check the museum’s current information before making a trip for a specific vehicle.

National Automobile Museum: “Cars of the Stars”

The National Automobile Museum in Reno describes its “Cars of the Stars” exhibit as featuring celebrity-owned cars. The museum says it has more than 240 cars overall, alongside period street scenes and sounds; that figure describes the museum, not the number of cars in the celebrity exhibit. See the museum’s Cars of the Stars page for its exhibit description.

Celebrity Car Museum in Branson

The Celebrity Car Museum says it opened in Branson in 2012 and presents celebrity, movie, and television vehicles, along with props and memorabilia. Its own notice says display vehicles can change at any time. Use its site to check what is on view rather than assuming a particular car will be present. Hollywood Cars Museum in Las Vegas

The Hollywood Cars Museum describes vehicles associated with film and television, including a Lotus Esprit submarine car connected with The Spy Who Loved Me, Batmobiles, a Back to the Future DeLorean, and a Knight Rider pursuit car. The page has a 2021 footer, so treat those as examples in the museum’s description, not a promise of current display. Review the Hollywood Cars Museum’s page and confirm availability with the museum before visiting for a particular vehicle.

Which celebrity has the best car collection?

There is no reliable, comparable current evidence here for ranking celebrity collections by value or size. “Best” depends on what a reader wants to see: Leno’s documented breadth across eras and technologies is compelling for engineering variety, while Seinfeld’s Porsche association offers a focused marque connection. A museum exhibit is a different proposition again, built around public display and celebrity or entertainment history.
