The Carado Axion is a compact, Ram ProMaster-based camper van whose 2018 layout was designed for solo travelers or couples. Its driver-side sofa converts into a single or double bed, while a small kitchen and rear pass-through wet bath fit into a 17.75-foot van. Those details come from a historical New Atlas feature, not a current specification or availability notice.
What is the Carado Axion?
New Atlas described the Axion in 2018 as the smaller of two Carado camper vans offered for the North American market, alongside the larger Banff. The article called the design European-inspired and identified the Ram ProMaster as its base. The Axion is distinct from Carado’s European Vlow vans; the reported configuration was tailored to one or two sleepers in a compact footprint.

Camper Van Cover for Carado Axion 2017–2018, Class B RV Cover with Multi Layer Nonwoven Fabric,... | $802.99 | Buy on Amazon |
The source is a product report published November 13, 2018. It does not establish whether the Axion is currently produced, supported by the manufacturer, or available new. Its specifications should be treated as period-reported figures and checked against the documentation for any specific vehicle.
How does the Axion sleep one or two people?
A longitudinal sofa along the driver’s side converts into a single/twin sleeping arrangement for one person or a double bed for two. New Atlas showed day, twin-bed, and double-bed floor-plan configurations. It did not report bed dimensions, so buyers should verify the sleeping surface and conversion details in the individual van.

What are the kitchen and bathroom like?
Kitchen
The reported kitchen sits just inside the sliding door. Equipment listed by New Atlas includes a dual-burner gas stove, sink, 700-watt microwave, and an 88-liter fridge/freezer that can be accessed from inside or outside. A counter extension adds preparation space. An optional pop-up computer desk attached to the kitchen block provides a place for laptop use.
Rear wet bath and cargo access
The compact rear wet bath was described with a toilet, fold-down sink, pull-out faucet/shower head, and a shower-basin floor. It is not a conventional fully enclosed bathroom: the article describes a privacy sheet inside and the van’s rear doors outside. The pass-through arrangement can also accommodate long cargo such as surfboards, trading bathroom enclosure for loading flexibility.
What specifications did the 2018 report give?
The following figures were reported by New Atlas in 2018. They describe the period configuration and do not confirm the equipment, condition, or specifications of a particular used Axion.

|---|---|
| Length and height | 17.75 ft (541 cm) overall length; 6.3 ft (1.9 m) interior height |

What did the Axion cost, and is it still available?
New Atlas reported a price of US$71,833 before options and a $3,000 incentive intended to clear 2018 inventory. Those were November 2018 terms, not a current asking price or evidence of present stock; they should not be used to estimate today’s used-vehicle value. The available reporting does not establish current production, manufacturer support, or inventory.
For a specific van, confirm its model year, installed options, service records, condition, and local asking price with the seller or a dealer. Check the vehicle’s own documentation rather than assuming the equipment and capacities listed for the 2018 configuration remain unchanged.
What should buyers compare?
The Axion’s layout makes the most useful comparison points practical rather than a broad claim that one compact van is best for everyone:
Quick Recap
- Fit and driving: Compare overall length, wheelbase, drive configuration, engine, and the parking or storage space you can use.
- Sleeping routine: Confirm the single and double bed dimensions and how much setup the conversion requires each night.
- Bathroom and cargo: Decide whether a pass-through wet bath works for you, and whether its rear access benefits your gear needs.
- Kitchen and work: Check refrigerator access, cooking equipment, counter space, and whether the laptop desk is included or optional.
- Off-grid systems: Verify battery type and capacity, solar equipment, heating, hot water, air conditioning, propane, and tank capacities on the individual unit.
- Condition and value: Review service history, options, recalls, possible water intrusion, and current local asking prices; the 2018 report cannot establish these details for a used van.
