Yes—if Amazon Autos is available in your area, you can shop for a car through Amazon and complete much of the purchase online. Amazon does not sell or supply the cars directly: participating dealerships provide the vehicles, set their prices and complete pickup and any remaining in-person paperwork.

What Amazon Autos is—and who sells the car

Amazon Autos is an online storefront and purchase workflow linked to participating dealerships. You can use Amazon to search listings, compare vehicles and financing, and complete much of the paperwork, but the seller is the dealership shown on the listing. The dealer supplies the vehicle and remains involved in the transaction. Amazon’s Autos explainer describes the service and its current process.

Amazon says listed vehicles have an upfront, dealer-set price and itemized costs, and that Amazon does not charge customers transaction fees or commissions. That does not mean a purchase has no other costs: taxes, registration, lender charges, dealer charges, and optional products may affect the final amount. Check the listing and proposed contract for the specific vehicle.

How buying a car through Amazon works

  1. Check local inventory. Enter your ZIP code and browse within the available search area. Amazon says its listings are drawn from dealers within 75 miles of a ZIP code; use filters such as make, model, price, and features to narrow the results.
  2. Review the vehicle and seller. Compare the year, condition, mileage, certification if applicable, listed price, and dealership. Ask the dealer whether a test drive is available.
  3. Choose how to pay. Depending on the listing, you may be able to compare financing offers, lease, or pay in full. You can also enter trade-in information for an estimate and select optional protection products.
  4. Place a deposit and complete online steps. Amazon’s described process allows customers to place a deposit and complete most paperwork online. Read the vehicle-specific terms before submitting payment or accepting an offer.
  5. Arrange pickup at the dealership. Amazon says pickup is scheduled through the dealer, typically within three days. The dealership handles the handoff and any remaining paperwork requiring a physical signature.

The process reduces some dealership visits, but it does not remove the dealer from the transaction. A test drive, pickup, and final signatures may still require an in-person visit.

What cars and locations are available?

Amazon’s current explainer says Amazon Autos operates in select U.S. markets and that inventory varies by location. It reports more than 1,000 participating dealers in more than 130 U.S. cities; these are Amazon’s figures, not an independently audited count. Enter a ZIP code in Amazon Autos to see whether the service, a particular dealer, or a vehicle is available nearby.

Amazon’s explainer lists new vehicles from Hyundai, Kia, Subaru, Mazda, Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Jeep, Dodge, and Ram. It also lists CPO vehicles from Hyundai and Ford Blue Advantage, plus used inventory that includes Hertz and vehicles from hundreds of dealers. These are examples in Amazon’s current description, not a guarantee that a particular make or model is listed in every market.

The service grew out of Amazon and Hyundai’s November 2023 partnership announcement. Amazon later said Amazon Autos launched in December 2024 with new Hyundai vehicles. The partnership announcement also discussed Hyundai’s AWS cloud plans and Alexa Built-in in future Hyundai vehicles; those initiatives are separate from buying a car through Amazon Autos.

How to compare Amazon Autos financing offers

Amazon says shoppers may compare personalized financing offers before visiting the dealership. In a 2025 announcement, it named Chase, Santander, and Wells Fargo as additional lenders and said approved offers could be displayed side by side with APR, loan term, monthly payment, and total interest. Amazon’s financing announcement describes that comparison feature.

Compare offers on the same assumptions: down payment, loan amount, and term. A lower monthly payment can reflect a longer loan rather than a lower overall cost. Consider the APR, total interest, total amount paid, and contract conditions—not just the payment shown on screen. Verify that the final lender offer matches the terms you selected.

What to check before choosing a vehicle

  • Seller and vehicle: Confirm the dealership, model year, condition, mileage, and any CPO certification.
  • Out-the-door cost: Review the vehicle price, taxes, registration, dealer or lender charges, optional products, and how any trade-in is treated.
  • Pickup and access: Confirm whether the dealer offers a test drive and when you can collect the vehicle.
  • Written protections: For used and CPO vehicles, read the listing’s return terms, warranty, and vehicle-history information before paying a deposit.

Used and CPO returns and warranties vary

Amazon’s current explainer describes a minimum three-day/300-mile return policy and a minimum 30-day/1,000-mile limited warranty for used and CPO vehicles, while noting that the return policy may vary in certain states. Its 2025 used-vehicle announcement also discusses these protections and vehicle-history reports. Treat these as general descriptions, not a substitute for the terms attached to the vehicle you are considering.

Certification can carry different terms. Amazon’s announcement about Ford Blue Advantage on Amazon Autos says Blue Certified vehicles may include a 90-day/4,000-mile limited warranty, whichever comes first. Check the vehicle listing and written warranty for the actual coverage, including mileage limits and applicable conditions; do not assume every used or CPO car has identical protection.
