Not as a verified 100% charge. BYD’s 2025 announcement said its Super e-Platform could add 400 km of range to a Han L in five minutes. In 2026, BYD described a newer system that charges a compatible second-generation Blade Battery from 10% to 70% in five minutes and reaches 97% in nine minutes. Those are different claims, and neither establishes a ten-minute charge from empty to 100%.
What BYD means by 1,000 kW charging
BYD introduced its Super e-Platform on March 17, 2025, describing a 1,000-volt architecture, 1,000-amp charging current and peak charging power of 1 megawatt, or 1,000 kW. The company said the Han L could add 400 km of range in five minutes and named the Han L and Tang L as the platform’s first models. Range added is not the same measurement as battery state of charge. The 400 km figure does not say how long it takes to go from an empty battery to full, and the announcement does not specify a 10-minute full-charge result.
What BYD claimed in 2026
BYD’s March 6, 2026 announcement of its second-generation Blade Battery and FLASH Charging gave a clearer state-of-charge interval: compatible vehicles charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes and reach 97% in nine minutes. The company also claimed that at -30°C, charging from 20% to 97% takes only three minutes longer than at room temperature. BYD described the 2026 FLASH Charger as capable of up to 1,500 kW through one connector, paired with high-capacity energy storage. That is a later system than the 2025 Super e-Platform’s 1,000 kW peak figure; the figures should not be treated as the same charger or as a charging rate every vehicle will receive.
Why a station’s peak rating is not every car’s charging speed
Actual charging depends on whether the vehicle and battery can use the charger’s output. A charger’s peak rating describes its capability, not a guaranteed rate for every vehicle or throughout an entire session. A report on a BYD/Longhua megawatt-class station in Shenzhen described one vehicle that could not use the site’s full output and took about 30 minutes to charge fully. The practical distinction is compatibility: BYD’s quickest quoted intervals apply to the specified second-generation Blade Battery system and FLASH Charging, not to EVs generally. The cited announcements do not establish that a generic cable, adapter or home charger can enable megawatt charging.

Yes, at least one operating site is reported. Shenzhen Government Online, crediting Shenzhen Daily, reported on September 12, 2026 that a BYD and Longhua Investment Holding Group station in Longhua had 10 flash-charging posts with 20 connectors, plus 15 ultra-fast posts with 30 connectors. The report gives a peak of 1,500 kW per connector and says compatible BYD Blade Battery vehicles could charge from 10% to 70% in five minutes and reach near-full capacity in nine minutes.

That site is evidence of an operating installation, not proof that the planned nationwide network is complete. BYD announced a target of 20,000 FLASH Charging stations in China by the end of 2026 and global rollout at scale by then; those are plans, not confirmed deployed totals. Its separate 2025 announcement had described a liquid-cooled megawatt terminal system with output up to 1,360 kW and a plan to build more than 4,000 megawatt flash-charging stations in China. The earlier terminal figure and roadmap should be kept distinct from the later FLASH Charger and station plan.

What a driver should check
- Vehicle and battery: Confirm whether the vehicle supports the specific high-power charging system; the quoted fastest times are not universal.
- What the time measures: Distinguish range added from a defined state-of-charge interval, and note that 97% is not 100%.
- Charger output: Check the stated peak power, while recognizing that a vehicle may not accept the station’s maximum output.
- Conditions and availability: BYD’s low-temperature figure is a separate manufacturer claim. Check whether a compatible station is operating where you plan to charge rather than relying on a rollout target.
