BYD’s “Intelligent Driving for All” announcement refers to God’s Eye, a driver-assistance system—not cars that can generally drive without a driver. In February 2025, BYD said an initial group of 21 models, including the Seagull, would get God’s Eye C. A later update in May 2026 said buyers in China could optionally equip the Chinese lineup with a God’s Eye LiDAR version. Availability depends on the vehicle and market.
What is BYD’s God’s Eye system?
God’s Eye is BYD’s name for a family of driver-assistance systems. The company introduced it as part of its “Intelligent Driving for All” strategy in February 2025, describing features that include parking and navigation assistance. The announcement should not be read as a promise of generally driverless cars: the available information does not establish hands-free or eyes-off operation across BYD models.
At the February 2025 event, BYD founder and CEO Wang Chuanfu was quoted by New Atlas as saying, “It will become a must-have in the next two to three years, just as a seat belt or airbag.” New Atlas also attributed to him the statement, “We are starting an era where autonomous driving is for everyone.” These are quotations as reported by that publication.
Which BYD cars have God’s Eye?
The initial 2025 rollout
BYD said the first God’s Eye C rollout covered 21 models, including the Seagull. That is the size of the initial announced group, not a count of every BYD vehicle worldwide. The company’s announcement described an expansion across its lineup, but it does not provide a complete, current global model-by-model availability list.

The May 2026 China update
In May 2026, BYD said its Chinese lineup could optionally be equipped with a God’s Eye LiDAR version. The same update described an offer for qualifying new buyers and existing owners upgrading to God’s Eye 5.0 in China. The offer does not establish that all existing BYD cars are eligible for an upgrade, or that the LiDAR equipment is available outside China.
Does God’s Eye mean a BYD can drive itself?
No broad driverless claim is supported. The announcements describe driver assistance, including parking and navigation assistance, rather than a system that makes the car generally autonomous. Capabilities and driver responsibilities can depend on the specific vehicle, system version, equipment, and market. Do not assume that a feature permits hands-free or eyes-off driving; check the vehicle’s instructions and applicable local rules.

How to check whether a particular BYD has it
Availability can vary by model, system tier, sensor equipment, and market, and LiDAR may be optional rather than standard. The announcements do not establish a complete worldwide rollout or a full model-by-model specification comparison. Before buying or relying on a feature, confirm the exact vehicle configuration with BYD or the selling dealer.

- Ask whether God’s Eye is fitted to the specific model and trim, rather than assuming it is included across the brand.
- Confirm the system version and which functions are supported on that vehicle.
- Check whether relevant sensors, including LiDAR, are included or optional in that market.
- If you own an earlier BYD, ask whether your exact vehicle qualifies for an upgrade; the China update does not prove general retrofit eligibility.
