The separate claim that a BYD Sealion 07 DM-i hybrid can travel up to 820 miles on a full tank and charged battery comes from a secondary report, not the BYD materials available to confirm it.
What BYD announced
BYD announced on March 3, 2025, that it and DJI had launched Lingyuan (灵鸢), an intelligent vehicle-mounted drone system. BYD identified the Fangchengbao Bao 8 drone edition as the first vehicle fitted with the fast-charging version. The announcement describes Lingyuan as an integrated system for a compatible vehicle—not a universal landing pad that can be added to an ordinary car. BYD’s launch announcement
How the vehicle drone pad works
BYD’s 2025 Sustainability Report describes a retractable landing pad, an in-vehicle drone positioning module, and automated functions such as follow-up shooting. It says the system supports dynamic drone takeoff and landing at speeds below 25 km/h. That is a low-speed capability; it does not mean the drone can launch or land safely at normal road speeds. The vehicle integration combines the pad and positioning functions with the drone system. The available BYD material does not establish that the system is compatible with other cars or standalone drones, so buyers should treat it as vehicle-specific equipment.

Which BYD gets the drone landing pad?
BYD’s March 2025 announcement names the Fangchengbao Bao 8 drone edition as the first vehicle equipped with the fast-charging Lingyuan system. BYD also said the Bao 8 line could select the system as an option. This identifies the China-market launch vehicle; it does not establish availability in other countries or current ordering status.
Is the BYD hybrid really rated for 820 miles?
An April 20, 2025 report by Interesting Engineering identifies a “Sealion 07 DM-i Intelligent Driving Version” and claims a maximum combined range of up to 820 miles with a full tank and fully charged battery. Interesting Engineering’s report

That model name and range figure are not independently confirmed by the BYD announcement or sustainability report cited here. The report excerpt also does not establish the test cycle behind the range. Treat 820 miles as a secondary-source claim, not as an officially verified BYD rating or a guarantee of real-world distance.

BYD announced a price of RMB 16,000 for the complete fast-charging Lingyuan system in its March 2025 China-market launch announcement. The announcement does not establish current pricing, whether that amount remains in effect, or pricing and availability outside China.
