The report puts cumulative sales since the SUV’s mid-June launch at 40,222. These figures are attributed to Electrek; the reviewed coverage does not include an underlying official BYD sales table.
Which BYD SUV passed 10,000 monthly sales?
The vehicle is the Great Tang, or Datang, BYD’s new flagship SUV in its Dynasty series. Electrek describes it as the brand’s first D-segment flagship SUV in that series. Use the full name to distinguish it from other BYD Tang models.
Electrek reported that the Great Tang launched in China in mid-June 2026. Its October 5, 2026 report gives September sales of 13,010 units and cumulative sales of 40,222 since launch, with September marking the third consecutive month above 10,000. The reviewed report does not provide a month-by-month breakdown or independent primary confirmation of the totals.
How do sales compare with the launch orders?
Electrek’s June launch coverage reported more than 150,000 preorders. That figure describes orders placed before or around launch, not vehicles sold or delivered, so it should not be added to the 40,222 cumulative sales figure.

What versions and China-market prices were reported?
Electrek’s launch coverage describes the Great Tang with pure-electric and plug-in hybrid powertrains. It reports the following China-market EV versions and launch prices:
| Version | China launch price | Battery | Claimed range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Premium EV | 239,900 yuan | 105.79 kWh | Up to 800 km CLTC |
| Flagship EV | 269,900 yuan | 130.15 kWh | Up to 950 km CLTC |
These are China-market launch prices and trim specifications reported in Electrek’s June launch report, not current prices for other markets. The range figures use China’s CLTC test cycle; they are estimates, not promises of everyday driving range, and should not be compared directly with figures from a different test cycle.

When could the Great Tang reach markets outside China?
On June 19, Electrek reported that BYD executive vice president Stella Li indicated the Great Tang was planned for Europe and Asia-Pacific by the end of 2026 or early 2027. The timing was reported from an interview in Rome; it is prospective, not confirmation that the SUV is currently on sale in any particular country. The report does not establish which markets come first, overseas specifications, or local pricing. See Electrek’s coverage of the overseas plan.
