BMW has confirmed that the all-electric BMW i3 M60 xDrive will join the new i3 range in 2027, with production due to start in early 2027. The 603bhp figure comes from an Auto Express report, not BMW’s published specification, so it should be treated as reported rather than final.
What BMW has confirmed about the i3 M60
BMW describes the i3 M60 xDrive as an M Performance version of the new, fully electric BMW 3 Series. The global announcement says it is planned for launch in 2027; BMW USA specifies that production is expected to start in early 2027. Production timing does not establish when customers can order or take delivery in every market. BMW’s global announcement and BMW USA’s i3 page are the cited sources for those details.

The i3 is the first fully electric BMW 3 Series built on the Neue Klasse platform. BMW says the initial range will begin with the i3 40 xDrive and i3 50 xDrive, with the M60 joining later. The company describes Neue Klasse Gen6 eDrive as using cylindrical-cell high-voltage batteries, new electric motors, 800-volt technology and bidirectional charging. BMW has not yet published final M60-specific performance or battery specifications in the cited material.

Auto Express reported on 8 October 2026 that the M60 is expected to produce 603bhp and 875Nm from a dual-motor setup. Those figures are not confirmed by BMW in its cited announcement. Treat them as reported expectations until BMW releases final specifications. Auto Express’s report is the source for the output, torque and expected layout.

What performance and range are expected?
Auto Express estimates 0–62mph in as little as 3.7 seconds and a limited top speed of 149mph. The publication says performance figures remain to be confirmed, so these are estimates, not BMW specifications. It also reports an expected 112kWh battery and says the M60’s range has yet to be determined. Its suggestion that range could exceed 500 miles on the WLTP cycle is an estimate that may depend on wheel and tyre choice, not a confirmed range figure.
BMW’s published figures for the i3 50 xDrive provide context, but they do not describe the M60. BMW lists the 50 xDrive with 345kW/469hp, 645Nm, a 108.7kWh high-voltage battery and up to 912km/567 miles of WLTP range. Its peak DC charging rate is up to 400kW, and BMW says up to 423km/263 miles of WLTP range can be added in ten minutes under its stated charging assumptions. The i3 40 xDrive is listed at 275kW/374hp, an 82.8kWh battery and up to 710km/441 miles WLTP range. These are BMW Group figures for the 40 and 50 xDrive, not M60 specifications. How the M60 differs from BMW’s electric M concept
The i3 M60 xDrive is described as an M Performance model; it should not be confused with BMW’s next-generation fully electric M concept. BMW’s January 2026 description of that concept specifies four motors and individual wheel control, while Auto Express reports a dual-motor layout for the i3 M60. What remains unknown
BMW has not confirmed the M60’s final power, torque, battery capacity, WLTP range, charging rate, acceleration or top speed in the cited material. Market-specific pricing, order dates and customer delivery timing are also not established. The reported figures should therefore be read as expectations, not a finished specification sheet.

The i3 M60 sits within a model line with a long history: BMW Group says more than 18 million BMW 3 Series vehicles have been sold. That figure applies to the broader 3 Series family, not to the electric i3 alone. BMW Group’s 2026 overview gives the sales figure.
