Decide whether a kit is useful
A bundled pole, mop, mitt, squeegee and towels can be practical if you need those items. If you already own some of them, compare the included contents against what is missing rather than choosing a kit for its item count alone.
Use a careful wash routine to help avoid smearing dirt
Armor All’s instructions for its microfiber wash mitt recommend a separate bucket of clear water for rinsing the mitt, washing from the top of the vehicle down, rinsing off suds, then using a second clean, dry microfiber mitt to dry remaining water. These are the brand’s directions, not a controlled comparison proving that any mop will prevent streaks.

- Prepare the wash solution and a second bucket of clear water for rinsing the mitt or mop cover.
- Start at the top of the vehicle and work downward, rinsing the tool in the clear water to remove loosened dirt before returning it to the wash solution.
- Rinse the vehicle to remove suds.
- Dry remaining water with a second clean, dry microfiber mitt or other suitable drying towel.

Autoglym explicitly warns: “Important: Do not use mesh on paint. Do not machine wash or dry. Do not use with strong detergents or wheel cleaners.” Its wash mitt page also says to hand wash the mitt separately before first use, then hand wash it cold and air dry. Care advice can differ by product. Armor All recommends washing its mitt on low heat after every use. It also claims that, with proper care, its towels can remain in condition for up to 500 uses; that is a manufacturer-reported figure, not an independently verified lifespan test. Check the current care label or instructions for the cover you own before laundering it.
