Which Bronco trim fits your use?
Base: prioritize the starting price and build from there
Ford positions Base as a value-oriented canvas for customization. It is one of only two trims listed in both body styles. Consider it if you want to choose equipment selectively rather than begin with a more specialized factory setup; price the options you need before comparing it with a higher trim.
Big Bend: a more comfort-minded starting point
Big Bend is Ford’s balance-of-capability-and-comfort choice, with additional off-road features available. It is listed as a four-door model. It suits buyers who want a general-purpose Bronco and may add off-road equipment without choosing a trim that Ford specifically frames around rock crawling, desert driving or maximum trail upgrades.
Outer Banks: appearance and standard comfort equipment
Outer Banks is the style-focused option in Ford’s descriptions. Ford lists color-matched roof and fender flares, larger wheels and Mid Package features as standard. It is a four-door model; buyers focused on appearance and included comfort-oriented equipment should compare its standard features with the actual options on other trims.

Badlands: tailor a Bronco to a particular off-road setup
Ford calls Badlands its most factory-customizable model. It has seven G.O.A.T. Modes, including Off-Road, Rock Crawl and Baja, and is available in two-door or four-door form. It is a sensible shortlist choice when you have a specific terrain or interior configuration in mind and want to select factory equipment accordingly.
Heritage Edition: retro styling with Sasquatch included
Heritage Edition combines historic styling cues with off-road capability. Ford says Sasquatch is standard, so compare its included equipment with the cost of adding the relevant package and features to another trim. It is listed as a four-door model and has five G.O.A.T. Modes.
Stroppe Edition: choose it for the desert-oriented brief
Ford describes Stroppe Edition as designed for Baja and desert or sand-dune driving, honoring racer and Bronco builder Bill Stroppe. It has seven G.O.A.T. Modes, including Baja, and comes only as a four-door. Its specialization and higher starting price make it a more targeted choice than a default upgrade for every kind of off-road use.

Raptor: the most powerful listed engine and extensive trail upgrades
Raptor is Ford’s demanding off-road configuration and has the highest-output engine in the manufacturer’s listed lineup: a 3.0L EcoBoost V6 rated at 418 hp and 440 lb-ft of torque. It is a four-door model with seven G.O.A.T. Modes. Consider it when its performance and factory trail equipment match your intended use, rather than assuming the top trim is automatically the best value.
Trim positioning and mode counts are Ford descriptions, not independent comparative test results. See the Ford comparison page for the manufacturer’s lineup details.

Choose two doors or four
Ford lists Base and Badlands in both two-door and four-door forms. Big Bend, Outer Banks, Heritage Edition, Stroppe Edition and Raptor are listed as four-door models. A two-door is the natural option to consider if a shorter body is a priority; choose a four-door if rear-seat access and passenger practicality matter more. Check the dimensions of the exact configuration before making a parking, cargo or trail-width comparison.

Compare engines and transmissions in the actual build
Ford’s 2026 comparison material lists these engine outputs. Availability depends on trim and configuration.
| Engine | Ford-listed output | Availability note |
|---|---|---|
| 2.3L EcoBoost I-4 | 300 hp; 325 lb-ft | Listed in Ford’s comparison material; confirm the exact trim and configuration |
| 2.7L EcoBoost V6 | 330 hp; 415 lb-ft | Available engine; confirm the exact trim and configuration |
| 3.0L EcoBoost V6 | 418 hp; 440 lb-ft | Raptor engine in Ford’s comparison material |
Ford lists a 7-speed manual and a 10-speed automatic, but not every transmission and engine combination is available across all trims. Check the live configurator or the 2026 Bronco order guide for the precise combination you are considering. Ford notes that order-guide features and package content may change; its guide reports changes dated April 1, 2026.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Use drive modes and package content to compare capability
Ford lists five G.O.A.T. Modes—Normal, ECO, Sport, Slippery and Sand—on Base, Big Bend, Outer Banks and Heritage Edition. Badlands, Stroppe Edition and Raptor add Off-Road, Rock Crawl and Baja for a total of seven. Modes help distinguish Ford’s intended use cases, but a mode count alone does not establish how a vehicle will perform on every trail or in every condition.

Do not assume that every version of a trim has identical hardware. Sasquatch and other packages can change equipment and price; Ford says Sasquatch is standard on Heritage Edition. Compare the equipment in the exact build, including any package you would otherwise add to another trim, using the configurator and current order guide.
A practical way to choose your configuration
- Decide on body style first. If you want two doors, the listed choices are Base and Badlands. Otherwise compare four-door trims based on passengers and rear access.
- Name the terrain you expect to drive. For a general-purpose Bronco, compare the lower-positioned trims and their available equipment. For rock-focused flexibility, examine Badlands; for Baja or desert use, Stroppe Edition; for demanding off-road use with Ford’s extensive trail upgrades, Raptor.
- Choose comfort and appearance features. Compare Outer Banks’ listed standard features, Big Bend’s comfort-and-capability positioning and the Heritage Edition’s styling and standard Sasquatch equipment against what you actually want.
- Verify engine, transmission and package availability. Confirm that the combination exists for your chosen trim and body style; do not infer availability from the lineup-wide engine or transmission list.
- Compare complete build prices. Include desired packages and equipment, then verify the current price, dealer inventory, destination charges and incentives. A starting price is not a quote for your configuration.
Prepare safely for off-road driving
Ford’s 2026 Bronco Technical Specifications advises: “Always consult the Owner’s Manual before off-roading, know your terrain and trail difficulty, and use appropriate safety gear.” The statement is Ford’s guidance, not a substitute for understanding the specific vehicle, route and conditions. The specifications are available in Ford’s 2026 Bronco Technical Specifications.
