There is no evidence-based, universal winner for the most reliable Audi SUV. The available ratings cover different things: Consumer Reports calls the 2024 Q5 about average for its model year, RepairPal rates the Q7 2.5 out of 5, and J.D. Power’s initial-quality and dependability studies measure different ownership periods. Those results can help compare specific models, but they do not form one ranking of Audi’s entire SUV lineup.
What the available Audi SUV rankings show
The figures below are useful within their own scope. They use different methods and comparison groups, so they should not be read as adjacent places in a single leaderboard.

How to interpret the results
Brand rankings are not model rankings
Audi’s Consumer Reports positions provide context about the brand, but they do not establish that one Audi SUV is more reliable than another. The 2024 Q5 result is narrower: it compares that model year with other 2024 vehicles, not every Q5 year or Audi SUV.
Initial quality and dependability cover different periods
J.D. Power’s 2025 Initial Quality Study concerns early ownership quality; its 2026 Vehicle Dependability Study concerns problems reported by original owners of three-year-old vehicles. A strong initial-quality placement for the Q3 therefore cannot be treated as proof of long-term dependability. The 2026 study’s stated cohort—2023 model-year vehicles after three years—also differs from a rating for a specific current model year.

Repair burden is not the same as reliability score
RepairPal’s Q7 rating combines the cost, frequency, and severity of unscheduled repairs in its method. Its $1,185 figure is an average annual repair and maintenance cost estimate, not a guarantee of what an individual owner will spend. A score, repair frequency, and likely expense answer related but distinct ownership questions.

Not responsibly from these figures alone. There is no openly comparable, model-year-matched reliability table here for the Q3, Q4 e-tron, Q5, Q6 e-tron, Q7, Q8, and performance variants. The Q3’s initial-quality placement, Q5’s model-year-specific Consumer Reports assessment, and Q7’s RepairPal rating use different measures and comparison groups; putting them in a single order would imply a comparison the data does not support.

For a purchase decision, start with the exact model year and the type of evidence you care about. Check an owner-report or predicted-reliability measure for the year under consideration, then look separately at repair frequency, severity, and likely cost. A brand position or an early-quality result can add context, but neither substitutes for a matched model-year reliability comparison.

What to conclude before choosing an Audi SUV
- Consumer Reports describes the 2024 Q5 as about average versus other 2024 vehicles; that finding does not cover all Q5 years.
- RepairPal’s Q7 score and annual cost estimate offer model-specific repair-burden context, using RepairPal’s own method.
- J.D. Power’s Q3 initial-quality recognition is not a long-term reliability ranking.
- No source-specific result listed here identifies one Audi SUV as the most reliable across the lineup.
