Yes—in the United States, the gasoline-powered Audi S6 is not returning for the 2026 model year. Reporting from Car and Driver, citing an Audi spokesperson, and Edmunds both says Audi of America has no gas S6 planned for the new 2026 A6. But the S6 name is not gone: Audi lists a separate, all-electric 2027 S6 Sportback e-tron in its U.S. lineup.
What Audi’s S6 decision means
The change is specific to the gas-powered S6 and Audi’s U.S. lineup for model year 2026. Car and Driver reports that an Audi spokesperson confirmed the sedan would not return; Edmunds likewise reports Audi of America did not plan a gasoline S6 based on the new 2026 A6. Car and Driver’s report and Edmunds’ coverage support that bounded conclusion.
Those reports do not establish that Audi has ended the S6 nameplate worldwide or ruled out a gas version in a later model year. The most accurate shorthand is that the gas S6 is absent from the U.S. lineup for 2026—not that every S6 has been cancelled.
The S6 that remains is electric
Audi’s U.S. site lists a 2027 S6 Sportback e-tron, with options to build the car and check inventory. It is an electric Sportback, not a continuation of the gasoline S6 sedan with a different model year. The powertrain and vehicle format are different, so the e-tron should not be treated as a like-for-like replacement for the gas car.

Audi’s current U.S. listing gives the electric model a starting price of $79,600. Audi also lists these specifications for the 2027 model:
- Power: 543 hp with launch control.
- Acceleration: 0–60 mph in 3.7 seconds with launch control.
- Drive: Standard quattro all-wheel drive.
- Range: Up to 324 miles EPA-estimated with 20-inch wheels.
- DC charging: Up to 270 kW; Audi says charging from 10% to 80% takes about 21 minutes at a public DC fast charger.

What buyers should compare
Someone considering the electric S6 after the gas sedan should compare the cars as distinct choices, rather than assuming the e-tron simply replaces the old S6. The available reporting and Audi listing establish the electric model’s published specifications, but do not provide an apples-to-apples independent comparison with the final gas S6.
