Volvo has signaled interest in wagons, but it has not confirmed a new one. Are Volvo wagons coming back?
Possibly, but there is no confirmed new Volvo wagon, model name, or launch date. The comments from Volvo executives amount to interest and exploration—not a product announcement.
Volvo Cars’ Strategy Update 2026 describes a regionalized plan covering 13 products and includes the phrase “New low & high body types.” It does not identify which body styles or models are planned. That wording could encompass different vehicles; it is not confirmation of a wagon.

Volvo Cars CEO Håkan Samuelsson told MotorTrend that Chinese customers are increasingly asking for wagons. Referring to the requests, he said, “Welcome to the club. We love them here in Europe, so we have no problem understanding that.” He suggested the market could shift back toward wagons, but did not announce a planned model.

Erik Severinson: an open door, not a promise
Asked about more Volvo wagons for the U.S., Chief Commercial Officer Erik Severinson told MotorTrend, “Never say never.” He also noted that high-riding cars remain a dominant segment. His answer leaves the possibility open; it does not establish that a U.S. wagon is in development or approved.
Michael Fleiss: exploration with no timeline
Chief Strategy and Product Officer Michael Fleiss told The Drive that Volvo is looking into wagons, but gave no timeline. He said, “10 years ago, it was a no-go, but now it’s coming,” referring to the wagon market. That describes his view of market interest, not a launch schedule for a Volvo model.

Can you still buy a Volvo wagon?
Availability differs between the United States and the United Kingdom, so a global yes-or-no answer would be misleading.
United States
Car and Driver reports that the V60 and V90 are to be discontinued in the U.S. after model year 2026. MotorTrend says a V60 may still be obtainable until inventory runs out. Whether a specific car is orderable or available depends on current dealer stock; check live listings before making plans.

United Kingdom
Auto Express reported on February 21, 2025, that the V60 and V90 estates had returned to UK retailers after a pause. The article listed V60 versions, including a B4 mild hybrid, from £41,370 and V90 plug-in hybrid versions from £59,280. Those are historical UK prices reported at that time, not current quotes. Auto Express also reported that estates had represented 5 to 10 per cent of Volvo UK’s total volume when the models were withdrawn, and that sales were around 2,000 during the depressed post-pandemic market. Is the wagon market really coming back?
The executive comments point to renewed interest, including customer requests in China, but they do not prove a market-wide sales rebound. No independently verifiable market-wide wagon sales statistic is established by the cited reports. Treat “coming back in style” as an executive outlook, not a measured trend or a guarantee that automakers will launch more wagons.

- A Volvo product announcement that names a wagon model, rather than referring generally to low or high body types.
- Confirmation of the intended markets and timing, especially whether a future wagon would be offered in the U.S., Europe, China, or more than one region.
