Some rare Honda motorcycles can command extraordinary collector prices, but the available evidence does not verify five models that reliably sell for more than a modern superbike. The clearest example is a 1990 Honda VFR750R RC30 reportedly sold for £65,000 in 2022—but that particular bike had just two “push kilometres” on its clock. That is evidence of an exceptional sale, not a typical value for every RC30, much less a confirmed five-bike ranking.
What the headline can—and cannot—claim
The exact-title result from TopSpeed references the Honda RVF750 RC45 and CBX, but the accessible page information does not establish all five models or document their prices. It would be misleading to fill in the missing lineup or present five bikes as proven to beat a modern superbike on value.
The defensible story is narrower: a near-new-condition RC30 reportedly achieved a striking auction result, while other available clues—including a CBX listing—do not establish completed sales. “Worth more” also needs a clear basis. An auction sale, an asking price and a valuation estimate are different kinds of evidence and should not be treated as interchangeable.
The strongest documented comparison: a Honda VFR750R RC30
Hagerty UK reported that a 1990 Honda VFR750R RC30 sold for £65,000 in 2022. The example reportedly showed only two “push kilometres,” a condition detail that makes this result exceptional rather than a sound proxy for an ordinary used RC30. Hagerty UK compared the sale with a CBR1000RR-R Fireblade price of £23,499 at the time, describing the RC30 result as nearly three times as much. That Fireblade figure is historical, not a verified current price. Hagerty UK’s report

A separate Hagerty valuation search result reported a lowest auction sale of $4,620 for a 1990 RC30 over the preceding three years. Its result also displayed a “most recent auction sale” field of $0 dated December 15, 2025; that is not evidence of a motorcycle selling for zero dollars. The £65,000 reported sale and the $4,620 low-sale figure are distinct records, in different currencies and contexts—not a current price range or a like-for-like comparison. Hagerty’s valuation result

Honda RVF750 RC45
The RC45 appears in the accessible TopSpeed result for the titled article, but the available information does not confirm its place in the full five-bike list or establish a comparable realized price. Its mention alone cannot support a claim that an RC45 is worth more than a modern superbike.

Honda CBX
Manor Park Classics’ search result described a 1981 Honda CBX1000 advertised with 158 miles from new in a September 2026 auction. That is a listing claim, not a confirmed sale: no auction outcome was visible. A low-mileage advertised example may merit attention from collectors, but its asking or estimate cannot be presented as a realized market value. Manor Park Classics’ listing
The remaining two bikes
The available article result does not identify the full five-model lineup, and the accessible evidence does not provide verified sale results for two additional bikes. Naming them or assigning them values would turn an unverified headline into a false ranking.

How to judge a vintage-bike price comparison
Before deciding that a classic Honda outranks a new superbike in value, compare like with like. For each specific motorcycle, check:
- Exact model and year: Confirm the variant, model year and relevant specification rather than relying on a broad family name.
- What the number represents: Separate a completed auction sale from an asking price, estimate or valuation tool result.
- Condition and mileage: A near-new example with two reported push kilometres is not representative of a bike with ordinary use.
- Provenance and originality: Review ownership history, documentation and whether the motorcycle remains original.
- Sale details: Account for sale date, geography and whether a quoted figure includes buyer’s fees before comparing amounts.
- A current modern-bike comparator: Use a price for the same market and period. The £23,499 Fireblade figure was cited in a 2022 comparison and should not be treated as a 2026 price.
These checks make the comparison meaningful; the available sale snippets do not establish how much any one factor affected the RC30 result.

So, are five vintage Honda sports bikes worth more?
Not on the evidence available here. The verified scope is one reported £65,000 RC30 sale in 2022, tied to an unusually low-mileage example, plus separate and non-equivalent valuation and listing clues. The evidence does not establish a complete five-bike list, typical values for those models, or a current apples-to-apples comparison with a modern superbike.
