No verified list of 10 road-legal cars powered by Formula 1 engines is supported by the available official sources. The clearest documented example is the Mercedes-AMG ONE, whose petrol engine is F1-derived and adapted for a hybrid road-car powertrain. That wording matters: it does not mean an unchanged race engine was simply installed in a production car.
What counts as a car powered by an F1 engine?
The phrase can mean several different things, and treating them as equivalent creates misleading lists. A car may use an engine actually raced in Formula 1, an engine derived from an F1 unit but modified for road use, or technology merely inspired by racing. A link between a designer and F1, or a car’s track performance, does not establish engine provenance.

- F1 engine: evidence that the engine itself was used in Formula 1.
- F1-derived engine: a road-adapted engine whose engineering lineage is explicitly tied to an F1 unit.
- F1-inspired: a broad influence claim that does not by itself show the engine was used in, or derived from, an F1 power unit.
Under the strictest reading—an actual engine used in F1—the sources here do not establish a ten-car list. Even with the broader F1-derived definition, they substantiate the AMG ONE, not ten distinct cars.

The clearest documented road-car example: Mercedes-AMG ONE
Formula 1 describes the Mercedes-AMG ONE as using an F1-derived 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine together with four electric motors and an 800-volt battery. Formula 1 reported a combined system output of 1,048 horsepower in 2022 (Formula 1, 2022). Mercedes-AMG identifies High Performance Powertrains as the engine builder and presents the car as bringing Formula 1 technology to public roads (Mercedes-AMG ONE technical page).
#1 Best Overall
- Authentic Formula 1 Styling – Realistic race-inspired design and proportions
- Authentic Race Car and Driver's Helmet Details
- Collector-Scale Model – 1:24 scale ideal for shelves, desks, and displays. Includes Acrylic Box with Decorative Sleeve
- Authentic Race Car and Driver's Helmet Details for #4 Lando Norris
- Free-Rolling Wheels – Smooth-rolling wheels for display or light play
The distinction is between the engine’s lineage and the car’s complete powertrain: the AMG ONE is a hybrid road car, not simply an F1 combustion engine transplanted unchanged. The sources support “F1-derived,” not “the race engine installed unchanged.”
Why familiar names do not fill out a ten-car list
Pagani Zonda F: AMG V12, but no established F1 engine link
Pagani says the Zonda F uses a Mercedes-AMG V12 developed for Pagani (Pagani Zonda F). The model’s name and concept are associated with Juan Manuel Fangio, but that connection does not establish that its engine was used in Formula 1. It should not be counted as an F1-powered car on this evidence.

Pagani Zonda R: a track car, not a road-legal entry
Pagani characterizes the Zonda R as a track car and describes its performance as impossible on the road (Pagani press page). It therefore cannot be casually added to a road-legal list, regardless of any motorsport associations.
Gordon Murray Automotive T.50: bespoke Cosworth V12
Gordon Murray Automotive described the T.50 as a production road car with a bespoke Cosworth GMA V12 in its 4 August 2020 reveal (T.50 – Rewriting the Supercar Rulebook). That source does not claim the engine was used in Formula 1, so the T.50 is not substantiated as F1-engine-powered.

Formula 1’s 2026 power units do not establish more road-car examples
Formula 1’s 14 January 2026 regulations explainer describes five manufacturers in its overview of the new generation of power units (Formula 1 2026 power-unit explainer). Separately, the FIA announced six supplier registrations for the 2026–2030 cycle (FIA supplier-registration announcement). These are counts reported in different source contexts, not interchangeable tallies—and neither demonstrates that ten road cars use F1 engines.

When a car is described as having an F1 engine, look for manufacturer or Formula 1 documentation that specifies the relationship. Check whether the wording means an engine used in F1, an F1-derived road engine, or general racing influence; whether the car is road-legal or track-only; and whether the claim concerns a combustion engine or a full hybrid system. Without those distinctions, a list can mix unrelated kinds of motorsport connection and imply more than its sources show.
