Acura is a Japanese luxury brand owned by Honda, but most current Acura vehicles sold in the United States are finally assembled in America—Integra and Type S in Marysville, Ohio, and RDX/MDX in East Liberty, Ohio. The Mexico-built ADX is the key current exception.
The short answer is therefore “usually the USA, but not always.” Acura production has also included Canada and Tennessee, and the exact answer for a particular vehicle depends on its model year, generation, destination market, and VIN.

Acura’s current vehicle lineup should be checked alongside model-year information because production assignments and vehicle availability can change.
Where is each current Acura model built?
Current and recent North American production is concentrated in Ohio, with the ADX produced in Mexico. The following guide applies to the model and production information described in the research, but a model-level location is not a substitute for checking an individual vehicle’s VIN.
| Acura model | Final assembly location | Important qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Integra | Marysville, Ohio, USA | American production began for the 2023 model year. The Integra Type S is built on the same line as the Integra and TLX. |
| RDX | East Liberty, Ohio, USA | Honda’s facility information lists the RDX among the plant’s major models. |
| MDX | East Liberty, Ohio, USA | Honda’s facility information lists the MDX among the plant’s major models. |
| ADX | Celaya, Guanajuato, Mexico | Production began in 2025. Honda de México identifies the ADX as the first Acura model manufactured in Mexico. |
| ZDX, recent electric generation | Spring Hill, Tennessee, USA | The recent electric ZDX was assembled through General Motors’ Spring Hill operation. Acura’s current U.S. site presents the ZDX primarily as a certified-pre-owned model. |
Honda’s manufacturing-facility directory and the East Liberty Auto Plant information provide the relevant plant-level confirmation for the Ohio-built models.

Acura’s 2024 Integra Type S press material states: “Every new Acura sold in the U.S. is built in America.” The same material qualifies that the vehicles use “domestic and globally-sourced parts.” The statement therefore concerns final assembly of U.S.-market vehicles, not the country of origin of every component or raw material. Read the 2024 Integra Type S press kit in that context.
Where are the Acura RDX and MDX built?
The Acura RDX and MDX are assembled at Honda’s East Liberty Auto Plant in East Liberty, Ohio. Honda lists both models among the plant’s major models.
The Ohio assembly location does not establish that every engine, transmission, electronic module, battery-related component, or other part came from Ohio or the United States. Final assembly and parts sourcing are separate questions.

As a result, an article or buyer guide saying that all current Acuras are built in Ohio is incomplete. A buyer choosing an ADX may receive a Mexico-assembled vehicle, while a buyer choosing an Integra, RDX, or MDX will generally encounter a U.S.-assembled vehicle under the production assignments described above. Honda de México’s 2025 Acura production announcement identifies the Mexico-made ADX.
Were Acura vehicles ever made in Canada?
Yes. Acura has a substantial history of North American production outside the United States. Honda of Canada Manufacturing in Alliston, Ontario, produced the first-generation MDX and the original ZDX, among other Acura models over time.
| Vehicle or generation | Historical location | Production distinction |
|---|---|---|
| First-generation MDX | Alliston, Ontario, Canada | A historical MDX generation built by Honda of Canada. |
| Original ZDX | Alliston, Ontario, Canada | Built in Canada during its 2009–2013 production run. |
| Recent electric ZDX | Spring Hill, Tennessee, USA | A separate, later ZDX generation assembled through General Motors’ operation. |
The original ZDX and recent electric ZDX should not be treated as one uninterrupted manufacturing program merely because they share a model name. Historical manufacturer information is available through NHTSA’s Honda of Canada manufacturer record, while Acura’s Canadian announcement identifies the original ZDX as reaching its final model year in 2013.
Does “built in America” mean an Acura is 100% American-made?
No. “Built in America” means that final vehicle assembly occurred in the United States; it does not mean that every part was manufactured domestically.

- Material Upgrade: The new windshield sunshade for 2026 provides more sun protection and shade. We abandoned the old-fashioned titanium silver coating design and chose 300T Oxford cloth with higher density as the raw material for the sunshade. It can effectively block sunlight and heat, allowing you to enjoy the coolness and tranquility inside the car in the scorching summer.
- Practical Performance: We focus on the practical performance of car sunshades in terms of shading and insulation, striving to bring tangible improvements to your driving experience. If you are unable to measure and confirm, you can provide us with your vehicle model via email, and we will recommend the appropriate size for your vehicle model as soon as possible.
- Quick Installation: The installation of this car sun shade is very simple. Method 1: You can use the elasticity of the visor and put it directly in front of the car windshield. An Ohio- or Tennessee-assembled Acura can contain domestic and globally sourced parts, including components, subassemblies, electronics, engines, batteries, and raw materials from multiple countries. The accurate wording is: “This Acura was finally assembled in the United States using domestic and globally sourced parts.” Calling the vehicle “100% American-made” would claim more than the available evidence supports.
Why does the model year and destination market matter?
Model year and destination market matter because the same badge can be assigned to different factories across generations, and production may differ between countries. The original ZDX was built in Canada, while the later electric ZDX was assembled in Tennessee. The ADX also changed the current lineup’s simple Ohio-focused pattern when Mexico production began in 2025.
A statement about a U.S.-market Acura should not automatically be applied to every Acura sold worldwide. Acura’s statement about new vehicles sold in the United States describes that market and should not be expanded into a claim that every Acura sold globally is assembled in America.
How can you verify where a specific Acura was built?
The most reliable way to identify the origin of one Acura is to verify the vehicle’s VIN and its manufacturer documentation rather than relying only on the model name.

- Identify the exact model year and trim. Include the generation when researching a used vehicle.
- Locate the 17-character VIN. The VIN may appear on the dashboard, door-jamb label, registration, title, or insurance documents.
- Use the VIN with NHTSA resources and manufacturer records. NHTSA’s manufacturer and VIN information can help identify manufacturer details, although a general model guide cannot replace vehicle-specific documentation.
- Check the certification label, window sticker, or build documentation. These documents may state the final assembly country or plant.
- Compare the result with the model-year production guide. A VIN result that differs from a general guide may reflect a transitional model year, shared production, a cross-border vehicle, or a different generation.
Readers who need to verify where their Acura was built should use the VIN and documentation together. Model-level plant assignments are useful starting points, but VIN-level confirmation is stronger for used Acuras, imported vehicles, and vehicles built during production transitions.
