Ford’s F-Series was the best-selling pickup line in the United States in calendar year 2025, with 828,832 trucks sold, according to Ford. A July 2026 sales compilation ranks the Chevrolet Silverado second, Ram pickup third, GMC Sierra fourth and Toyota Tacoma fifth. “Favorite” here means reported sales volume—not a judgment of quality, capability or value.
America’s top-selling pickup trucks in 2025
The table ranks model lines by reported U.S. sales for the full 2025 calendar year. Ford’s F-Series figure is confirmed in the automaker’s sales release. The compilation lists the remaining totals, but flags its GM and Toyota figures as trade-compiled and pending primary-PDF verification. General Motors’ and Toyota’s official releases support some broader sales claims, but their accessible text does not provide separate unit totals for each model shown here.

The compilation was updated July 18, 2026. These are reported sales, not a consumer-only preference survey: the sources do not establish retail-versus-fleet splits at the model level. Calendar-year 2026 totals were not yet reported in the sources available for this ranking.
What the 2025 ranking says—and what it does not
F-Series led, but the figure is not F-150-only
Ford reported 828,832 F-Series sales in 2025, up 8.3% year over year, and said the line retained its U.S. truck sales lead for the 49th consecutive year. Ford reports F-Series as a line, so its total should not be relabeled as sales of the F-150 alone. Ford also reported 155,051 Maverick sales, up 18.2%, and 70,960 Ranger sales, up 53.6%; those figures are not included in the five-row ranking above because the compilation’s listed leaders are the models shown there. GM’s leadership claim uses a combined comparison
General Motors said it led U.S. full-size pickups for the sixth straight year, counting Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra together. It also said their combined sales were the best in 20 years. That manufacturer-group claim is not the same measure as ranking Silverado and Sierra separately as individual model lines; the accessible release does not state separate totals for them. Tacoma had a best-ever year, but the official release omits its unit count
Toyota described 2025 as a best-ever sales year for Tacoma, while the accessible release does not give the model’s unit total. How to use a sales ranking when choosing a truck
Sales volume answers which trucks were reported as selling the most; it cannot show which one suits a particular driver. A higher rank does not establish that a truck is more reliable, capable, affordable or satisfying to own. Use the ranking as a popularity snapshot, then compare the vehicles themselves against your needs.
