At the 2026 Festivalcar in Santena, a sculpted Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was photographed beside a sharply angular Tesla Cybertruck—an unlikely pairing that made two very different ideas of automotive design impossible to miss.

What happened when an Alfa Romeo 8C parked beside a Tesla Cybertruck?

Carscoops reports that the two vehicles shared the lawn at Castello Cavour di Santena during Festivalcar, which the publication describes as an Italian Concours d’Elegance. The Cybertruck was the conspicuous modern arrival among the event’s classic and exotic cars. The photographs are credited to Liokis_Photography and were shared with Carscoops by a reader who attended; this account is based on that report, not independent on-site coverage.

The juxtaposition works because the vehicles seem to speak different visual languages. The 8C’s body is all flowing shoulders, rounded forms and sculpted transitions. The Cybertruck instead presents broad planes, hard edges and a geometric silhouette. Whether either is beautiful is a matter of taste, but together they make design itself the attraction.

Why the 8C and Cybertruck look so different

Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione: curves and grand-touring proportions

Carscoops traces the 8C concept to 2003 and says the production version followed in 2007. The report credits design guidance to Wolfgang Egger and describes the car as using a shortened Maserati GranTurismo chassis with a Ferrari-sourced V8 mounted in a front-mid position. Those are Carscoops’ vehicle-history and technical descriptions, rather than independently corroborated specifications here.

That account helps explain the 8C’s character in the photographs: a low, compact-looking coupe whose sculptural bodywork and long, rounded forms read as an Italian grand tourer. Its visual drama comes from continuity and curvature rather than from conspicuous angles.

Tesla Cybertruck: a pickup built around hard edges

Carscoops dates the Cybertruck concept to 2019 and says production began in 2023. It describes a full-size electric pickup with a stainless-steel body, and reports an available tri-motor configuration producing up to 845 hp. The power figure is the report’s claim for that configuration, not a statement about every Cybertruck trim or a current all-trims specification; configurations can change.

Beside the 8C, the Cybertruck’s straight-edged body and pickup proportions look less like an evolution of the same design tradition than a deliberate break from it. The contrast is visual, not a verdict on which vehicle is better to own or drive.

The concours setting makes the contrast bigger

The 8C was not the only Alfa Romeo represented at the 2026 event. Carscoops names the 2uettottanta concept, 4C, Giulia GTAm, Giulietta Sprint, Spider and original Giulia among the other family members reported there. Its account also mentions Ferrari models including the 275 GTB/4, F50, F355, 512 TR, Amalfi and 849 Testarossa; Lancia Stratos HF, Flavia Coupe and Aurelia B20 GT; several Maseratis; a Bertone Runabout concept; Lamborghini Miura and Revuelto; Fiat Topolino examples; Jaguar E-Type; Porsche 911s; Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VI; and Nissan GT-R 50.

That roster is Carscoops’ description of the event, not an independently audited list. Even with that qualification, the setting gives the pairing its force: the Cybertruck appears amid vehicles whose shapes and histories span many eras, while the 8C fits naturally among the show’s Italian sports and grand-touring machinery. The pickup becomes an invitation to compare, not simply an object outside the frame.

A design contrast, not a buying comparison

The encounter offers no useful measure of which vehicle is quicker, more practical or better value; it is a photograph from a concours setting, not a road test. Its appeal is that the same gathering can accommodate an expressive coupe and a stainless-steel electric pickup without requiring them to share an aesthetic.

Carscoops author Thanos Pappas captured the split reaction this way: “For some people, the Tesla x Alfa photo shows a stainless steel appliance parked next to a real car, but for others it reveals the fascinating variety that exists in the automotive world.” The line is intentionally opinionated. The more durable point is the variety: the 8C and Cybertruck are compelling together precisely because they are so unlike one another.
