AEMOTION is a French electric microcar that leans into corners like a motorcycle while enclosing two occupants in a four-wheel body. The manufacturer lists a 115-km/h (71.5-mph) top speed and up to 200 km (124 miles) of range with its fixed battery. Those numbers are manufacturer claims, however, and the vehicle remains in development with pre-orders—not established mass-market deliveries.
A four-wheel EV that leans like a motorcycle
AEMOTION is a French-built, two-seat electric microcar designed to occupy the narrow space between a motorcycle and a conventional car. It has four wheels, an enclosed body, tandem seating, doors and seat belts—but its chassis tilts into corners and it is steered with handlebars.

According to AEMOTION, the vehicle can lean by more than 35 degrees, reach 115 km/h (about 71.5 mph), and travel up to 200 km (about 124 miles) with its fixed long-range battery. Those are manufacturer-stated figures, not independently verified test results.

- SIZE RANGE: 3 sizes to fit most adult riders - adjustable design accommodates different head circumferences for secure, comfortable protection. Small (51-54cm), Medium (54-57cm) & Large (57-60cm).
The vehicle is just 79 cm wide—roughly motorcycle-width—and seats two adults in tandem, with one occupant behind the other. That makes it far narrower than an ordinary car and potentially easier to place in tight urban spaces or narrow parking areas.
Unlike a normal microcar, AEMOTION is not designed to remain upright through a turn. Its four-wheel chassis leans into bends, using a riding dynamic closer to that of a two-wheeler. The driver controls it with handlebars instead of a conventional steering wheel.

The speed and range figures should not be interpreted as equivalent to a standardized road test. The available product information does not state the test protocol, ambient conditions, speed profile, energy-consumption method or certification basis behind the range claim. Real-world range would be affected by speed, temperature, payload, terrain and driving style.
How the tilting system works
AEMOTION’s defining feature is its tilting four-wheel chassis. Rather than steering a rigid body through a corner, the driver leans the vehicle in a way intended to resemble riding a motorcycle. The company says the driver manages the angle naturally, while the four wheels remain in contact with the road.
That arrangement is intended to combine the agility of a two-wheeler with some of the enclosure and stability benefits of a four-wheel vehicle. It does not, however, make AEMOTION a motorcycle or prove that it offers motorcycle-equivalent handling. The reviewed information does not include independent handling tests, braking tests or safety evaluations.
The 79-cm width is as important as the tilting mechanism. AEMOTION is designed to take up very little lateral road space, but its 235-cm length and 171-cm height still matter when assessing garages, parking spaces and transport restrictions.

Two battery approaches, but important charging details are missing
AEMOTION lists two battery configurations:
- Fixed long-range battery: up to 200 km, or about 124 miles, per charge.
- Swappable-battery configuration: about 70 km, or 43.5 miles, per battery.
The removable-battery approach could be useful for owners who cannot install a dedicated charger or who want to exchange a depleted battery rather than wait for it to recharge. But the available specifications do not say whether the swappable batteries are intended for public exchange stations, how much they weigh, or whether a battery-swapping network will exist.

AEMOTION also has not publicly specified in the reviewed material the battery capacity in kilowatt-hours, charging time, AC or DC charging capability, connector standard, included cable or portable-charging support. Those details are essential before a buyer can plan home charging or calculate operating costs.
Prospective owners may eventually need an electric vehicle charging cable, but compatibility must be checked against AEMOTION’s final connector and charging specifications. A generic cable should not be assumed to work simply because the vehicle is electric.
Enclosed and more protected than a motorcycle—but not safety-rated
AEMOTION’s product material lists several protective and practical features:
- Removable batteries
- Seat belts
- Gullwing-style doors
- Crash boxes
- Integral hydraulic braking
The enclosed cabin, roof and seat belts distinguish AEMOTION from an exposed motorcycle. However, the available research did not locate independent crash-test results, a published regulatory safety rating, a final homologation certificate or third-party braking and handling data.
It is therefore reasonable to describe the vehicle as enclosed and equipped with the features listed by its manufacturer. It is not reasonable to call it crash-tested, automotive-grade or demonstrably safer than a motorcycle without additional independent evidence.
Is the 71-mph top speed enough for highways?
On paper, AEMOTION’s listed 115-km/h top speed is substantially higher than that of many low-speed neighborhood electric vehicles and basic city microcars. That helps explain why the vehicle is being presented as more than a slow urban cart.

Top speed alone does not establish where it can legally be driven. Road access depends on the vehicle’s final classification, homologation, local equipment requirements and the rules of the jurisdiction where it is registered. The reviewed information does not establish universal highway legality, and readers should not assume that a 71-mph-capable vehicle can legally use every highway.
French licensing requirement
AEMOTION’s technical information lists a French category-B car license plus seven hours of training. That should be understood as the company’s stated requirement for the French market, not a worldwide licensing rule.

The research does not establish how AEMOTION would be classified in the United States, United Kingdom or other countries. A potential buyer outside France would need confirmation from the manufacturer and the relevant local transport authority covering registration, insurance, licensing, road access and equipment requirements.
AEMOTION is still a development-stage vehicle
The project reportedly began with an initial prototype in 2014. AEMOTION says it went through seven prototype versions before reaching its current chassis design. The company describes 2021 through 2023 as a further development phase involving additional partners, and says the first vehicle was publicly unveiled in December 2024.
AEMOTION identifies BPI, ADEME and the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Region as development partners. Those milestones and partnerships come from the company’s own account and should be treated as company-reported project history rather than independently audited production evidence.
Can you buy one now?
AEMOTION’s sales terms allow customers to place pre-orders through the company’s website. But those same terms describe the vehicle as still in development, say delivery dates are indicative, and allow the seller to modify essential characteristics and available options.

- Package: Wrist guard x 2, Knee pad x 2, Elbow pad x 2, Helmet x 1
- Made of tough and durable PP, PE materials with breathable Polyester material
- Helmet is tough and durable PVC & PC, EPS foam which would help absorb the impact
- Appropriate for Roller skating, inline skating and scooters and other extreme sports
The terms also state that a pre-order deposit is refundable if the product cannot be delivered. That is an important distinction: a refundable pre-order is not the same as purchasing an established, mass-produced vehicle with a guaranteed delivery date.
Independent reports have discussed an initial pioneer batch and future deliveries, but those projections should not override the company’s own qualification that timing is indicative. No verified U.S. launch, U.S. price or international sales plan was established in the available information.
What potential buyers should confirm
Before placing a deposit, a buyer should obtain written answers to questions that the current public specifications do not resolve:
- What is the final battery capacity and usable energy?
- What connector and charging standards does the vehicle use?
- What are the fixed-battery charging time and maximum charging power?
- How are swappable batteries charged, and is an exchange network planned?
- What exactly is included in the pre-order price?
- What homologation and road classification will apply in the buyer’s country?
- What insurance, license and training requirements will apply locally?
- What independent safety or braking testing has been completed?
- What happens if specifications, options or delivery timing change?
- What are the cancellation and refund procedures in practice?
The bottom line
AEMOTION is one of the more unusual electric urban vehicles in development: a four-wheel, two-seat microcar only 79 cm wide that leans into turns like a motorcycle. Its claimed 115-km/h top speed and 200-km fixed-battery range would make it much more capable than a typical low-speed city cart if they translate into real-world, road-legal performance.
For now, though, the important qualifiers are “claimed” and “in development.” The vehicle is available through pre-order rather than established mass-market delivery, its charging system and final regulatory status remain unclear, and independent performance and safety validation has not been established.
