As of October 8, 2026, that transfer had not yet taken place.
What is ending—and what is not
KOHL Group said in March 2026 that it would stop manufacturing BMW and MINI tuning parts through its AC Schnitzer division at the end of the year. It said it would focus instead on vehicle and motorcycle retail and service. The announcement is about KOHL’s manufacturing operation; it does not say that the AC Schnitzer name or its products will vanish.
In September 2026, AM Group announced that KOHL Group planned to transfer the AC Schnitzer brand to it in November. That future transfer is a separate development from KOHL’s decision to end manufacturing. The announced date was still ahead as of October 8, 2026.

|---|---|---|
| KOHL Group’s manufacturing change | End of 2026; announced by KOHL Group in March 2026 | End of KOHL’s AC Schnitzer manufacturing operation for BMW and MINI tuning parts; remaining inventory was to be sold through year-end. |

Why KOHL Group says it is stopping production
KOHL Group attributed the decision to the economics of manufacturing tuning products in Germany. It cited rising development and production costs, approval delays, market pressure, and changing consumer behavior and powertrain trends. The company also pointed to international market conditions, the gradual phase-out of internal-combustion engines, U.S. tariffs, raw-material prices, currency volatility, supplier issues, and consumer reluctance amid a weak economy. These are KOHL Group’s stated reasons, not independently measured findings about the entire tuning industry.

AC Schnitzer Managing Director Rainer Vogel described the timing challenge in KOHL Group’s March announcement: “If we can only bring aftermarket parts to market eight or nine months after the competition, that speaks for itself,” he said. The eight-to-nine-month comparison is Vogel’s account of the company’s competitive timing, not an independently established approval-time statistic.
What happens to parts, inventory, and support?
KOHL Group said existing BMW and MINI inventory would be sold through the end of 2026, and that warranties and after-sales support would be guaranteed beyond that date. This is the company’s commitment; it does not establish that a particular part is still available from a particular dealer. Buyers should confirm stock, warranty coverage, fitment, and applicable approval documentation with the seller before ordering.

KOHL Group named forged wheels, exhaust systems, suspension upgrades, aerodynamic add-ons, and engine tuning among the products in the AC Schnitzer range. AM Group also described the brand’s focus as performance, suspension, wheels, aerodynamics, and vehicle personalization. The announcements do not verify specific marketplace listings, prices, or seller inventory.

AM Group’s September announcement described a planned November 2026 transfer and said it intended to invest in product development, design, and international growth. It said AC Schnitzer would retain its identity and technical approach, and that technical documentation and TÜV certification files were to transfer to a new German company. These are the announced buyer’s plans, not completed outcomes as of October 8, 2026.

What BMW and MINI owners should do now
- If you are considering a part before year-end 2026, ask the seller to confirm item-level availability rather than relying on the general inventory announcement.
- Check compatibility with your exact vehicle and confirm what approval documentation applies to the part and where the car will be used.
- If you already own an AC Schnitzer product, keep your purchase and warranty records and contact the seller or KOHL Group about support for that item.
- If you are waiting for new products under AM Group, treat product continuity and future development as plans until the transfer and subsequent arrangements are confirmed.
