70mai Dash Cam A510 Review: Is It Ready to Hit the Road?

The 70mai A510 is a capable front-first dash cam with 1944p HDR video, GPS and app control. Its rear camera is only 1080p, and parking surveillance requires a compatible hardwire kit.

Verdict: The 70mai A510 is ready for everyday driving once you add a suitable microSD card, but it is not a complete parking-surveillance system out of the box. Its Sony STARVIS 2 front camera records detailed 1944p video, GPS and app control are useful, and an optional rear camera adds worthwhile coverage. The compromises are a softer 1080p rear view, separately purchased hardwire hardware for parking mode, battery-based power, and region-dependent 4G support.

What the 70mai A510 is

The A510 is a compact midrange dash cam built around Sony’s STARVIS 2 IMX675 sensor. Its maximum front setting is 2592 × 1944 at 30 frames per second, commonly described as 1944p or 2.7K-class. It can also record 2560 × 1440 at 30fps with HDR or 1920 × 1080 at 60fps. GPS, a 2-inch IPS display, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and optional rear-camera recording make it more capable than a basic 1080p camera.

The front camera is the reason to buy it. Compatible rear cameras generally record at 1080p, so “dual-channel” does not mean two equally detailed views.

The front camera captures at 2.5K (QHD) and intelligently upscales to 4K (2160P) for higher-detail playback, while the rear camera records at Full HD 1080P. This is upscaled 4K, not native 4K, engineered to show sharper everyday detail than standard 1080P dash cams, so you can read license plates, signs, and surroundings in front and rear footage.
  • SONY STARVIS 2 IMX675 SENSOR + SUPER NIGHT VISION: The front camera uses a Sony STARVIS 2 IMX675 5MP image sensor with a wide F1.5 aperture (F1.8 rear) and HDR to pull in more light for clearer low-light footage. This advanced sensor enhances nighttime clarity, helping capture license plates, road signs, and surrounding vehicles with greater reliability when driving after dark, through tunnels, or in dusk and dawn conditions.
  • ULTRA FAST 5.8GHz WIFI/ UP TO 20MB/s DOWNLOAD SPEED: With its built-in dual-band 5.8GHz and 2.4GHz WiFi, you can use the ROVE dash cam app to view and manage dash cam recordings instantly on your iPhone and Android smartphone. • FEATURES WITH STATE-OF-THE-ART TECHNOLOGY INCLUDED: Experience peace of mind with this front and rear car dash cam. It comes with a free 128GB microSD card and offers advanced features such as an f1.5 aperture, motion detection, G-sensor, seamless loop recording, emergency video lock, screen saver, live speed and compass direction, voice guidance, ring of threads for optional CPL filter, a built-in supercapacitor for extended product life, support for up to 1TB microSD cards, and many more.

Configurations and what is in the box

Retail names vary by country. A front-only package, an “A510-1” variant, and bundles including an RC11 or RC12 rear camera may use similar branding but contain different hardware. Memory-card bundles also vary.

Configuration What to expect Check before buying
Front camera only A510 camera, mount, power cable and car charger, trim tool, electrostatic stickers, adhesive and manual. A microSD card is usually not guaranteed.
Front/rear bundle A510 plus one compatible rear camera and its cable. Confirm whether it is an RC11 or RC12 and whether the rear unit is included in your regional SKU.
Memory-card bundle Camera package plus a listed microSD card. Verify capacity, brand and warranty rather than assuming every listing includes storage.
Parking setup Camera plus a compatible hardwire kit such as UP03/UP04. The standard 12V lead does not provide full-time parking surveillance when the socket is switched off.

70mai’s regional product and accessory pages are the safest way to match a bundle: US product range and US accessories.

Front-camera image quality

Daylight and nighttime detail

Independent testing by PCWorld found the front footage very good in daylight and at night for this class. The IMX675, F1.8 lens and HDR mode give the A510 a stronger starting point than inexpensive 1080p cameras. That does not guarantee readable plates in every clip: distance, speed, viewing angle, windshield dirt, compression and glare remain decisive.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

HDR, glare and exposure changes

HDR helps balance bright sky and darker foreground, but testing also noted that sudden transitions between shade and sunlight can briefly challenge exposure. Oncoming headlights and reflective signs can still wash out detail. The lens shows some fish-eye distortion toward the edges.

WDR and HDR technology balance highlights and shadows, ensuring sharp night vision and crisp details day or night, providing reliable evidence and enhanced safety for every drive.
  • [Built-in 5.8GHz WiFi & Smart App] Connect your smartphone to the dashcam’s built-in 5.8GHz WiFi to enjoy ultra-fast downloads up to 20MB/s. Using Redtiger Cam app, you can preview, download, and replay videos in real time, check GPS ata (route, speed, and location), and manage settings effortlessly, making it simple to review footage and share important moments.
  • [Loop Recording & Free Memory Card] This car camera supports seamless loop recording to ensure continuous coverage without interruption. Older files are automatically overwritten when storage is full, while important events are safely locked. A free memory card is included, giving you ample space for 4K recordings and allowing you to use the camera right out of the box.
  • [24/7 Parking Mode* & G-Sensor] Enjoy round-the-clock protection with two parking modes: time-lapse recording for continuous low-bitrate monitoring and G-sensor mode that records when collision is detected. The car security camera with G-sensor automatically locks important clips, ensuring crucial evidence is safely preserved even while your vehicle is parked.(*Hardwire kit needed.)

Choosing a recording mode

The 1944p mode uses a taller 4:3 frame and maximizes vertical detail. The 1440p HDR mode is wider at 16:9 and may suit drivers who prefer a conventional frame or stronger highlight handling. The 1080p/60fps option favors motion smoothness over resolution. Make a short test drive in the lighting you normally encounter before settling on one mode.

Rear-camera usefulness

An RC11 or RC12 adds meaningful evidence of following traffic and rear impacts, but it is visibly less detailed than the front view because it is generally 1080p. Regional material describes a 130-degree rear field of view; RC12 is described as a 1080p HDR camera. The A510 can show front and rear views together in picture-in-picture, and documentation describes connecting one additional camera at a time.

Rear-window tint, defroster lines, condensation, dirt and night glare can reduce results. Confirm the exact camera, connector and mounting arrangement for your market; some configurations may allow a cabin-facing orientation, but that is not universal.

Installation: straightforward, with safety-critical details

  1. Clean and dry the windshield, then apply the electrostatic sticker to the recommended flat area.
  2. Slide the camera onto its mount and attach the mount using the supplied adhesive arrangement.
  3. Route the power lead behind the headliner and trim, keeping it clear of airbags, pedals and steering components.
  4. For a rear camera, route its cable to the rear window without crossing curtain-airbag deployment paths.
  5. With the camera powered off, insert a compatible microSD card.
  6. Connect the supplied 12V car charger and power on.
  7. Format the card using the camera’s own format command. Formatting erases existing files.
  8. Pair the camera with the current regional 70mai app.
  9. Set date, time zone, resolution, HDR, GPS, audio and any driver-assistance alerts.
  10. Record a short drive and check front and rear video, sound and GPS data.
  11. Secure every loose section of cable and recheck the camera angle after routing.

The manual specifically says not to insert or remove the card while the camera is on. Supplied stickers and a trim tool make a first installation approachable, and independent reviews found the cable length suitable for larger vehicles.

  • [24-hour Parking Monitoring*] REDTIGER Car dashboard camera offers G-Sensor Parking Mode that automatically record when it detects any collisions or sudden motion while vehicles is parked. Time Lapse Parking Mode provides continuous surveillance by offering a condensed overview of any events that may occur during parking periods. *Please note that the parking monitoring function requires a separate hardwire kit.

Storage and everyday ownership

Use a reputable, high-quality Class 10 microSD card rated U1 or higher, from 32GB through the officially documented 256GB maximum. Dash cams constantly overwrite files, so sustained-recording endurance matters more than bargain pricing.

  • 32GB: lowest cost, shortest recording history.
  • 64GB or 128GB: practical everyday choices.
  • 256GB: longest documented capacity, but a failed card can represent more unreviewed footage.

Format new cards in the camera, protect important emergency clips from loop overwrite, and replace the card if recordings become corrupted or intermittent. Do not assume capacities above 256GB are supported without checking the exact regional firmware and manual.

App, GPS and ADAS

70mai app

The app provides live view, settings, browsing and clip downloads over the camera’s wireless connection. PCWorld found it generally easy to use but reported an initial connection problem that 70mai attributed to server issues, along with concern about account requirements. Whether registration, permissions or cloud connectivity are required can vary by regional app release. A local recording camera should not be confused with a camera that offers cloud storage.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

GPS

Built-in GPS can associate date, time, speed and route coordinates with recordings. It is supporting evidence, not an automatically authoritative legal speed measurement. Satellite acquisition can take time; one independent test saw GPS information appear roughly 30 seconds after recording began.

galphi 4K Dash Cam Front, 5GHz WiFi, 32GB Card Included, Mini Dashcam
  • 💖💖【Important Note】Due to soaring memory chip costs, many brands have eliminated memory cards entirely, requiring a separate purchase. However, to save you the hassle of buying extra accessories, we are resisting cost pressures without raising our dashcam's price. Starting June 26, 2026, this camera will include a 32GB memory card (previously 64GB) so you can still use it out of the box. For extended storage, we highly recommend purchasing a Class 10, U3, and V30 (or higher) memory card.
  • 【4K 2160P Resolution Dash Cam】Capture every drive in stunning 4K UHD resolution with the Galphi front dash cam, featuring a 160-degree wide-angle lens for clear, cinematic video footage. Ideal for family cars, new drivers, and Uber/Lyft drivers, it provides reliable video evidence for accident disputes and insurance claims.
  • 【Advanced 5GHz WiFi with App】 Featuring cutting-edge 5GHz WiFi and a free app, the video download speed reaches up to 8MB/s, compared to just 2MB/s with the 2.4GHz option. This greatly reduces download times and minimizes lag during video playback.
  • 【No Screen & Less Distraction】This dash camerma features a screen-free design, minimizing distractions while you drive so you can stay focused on the road. Enjoy peace of mind knowing your camera is recording without taking your attention away from the journey.
  • 【Compact and Super Easy to Install】The dash cam's slim and compact design ensures it won't obstruct your view. With easy installation and clear, detailed instructions included, even first-time users can set it up without any hassle.

ADAS

Advanced-driver-assistance alerts are supplementary warnings, not collision prevention. Rain, darkness, glare, poor lane markings, unusual road geometry and camera misalignment can produce missed or false alerts. Modern factory safety systems, when fitted, remain the primary reference.

Parking surveillance is an add-on

The A510’s basic 12V setup normally powers the camera only while the vehicle outlet is active. Collision-triggered parking recording and time-lapse parking modes require compatible hardwire equipment; 70mai describes collision events as 30-second videos and identifies UP03/UP04 hardware for parking use.

  • Collision detection: the G-sensor triggers an event after an impact.
  • Time-lapse: records at intervals to conserve storage and may not capture the precise impact moment.
  • 24-hour operation: depends on a hardwire kit, a suitable fuse connection and voltage cutoff.

Hardwiring introduces battery-drain, fuse-layout and airbag-routing considerations. Match the kit to the exact regional A510 firmware and vehicle; do not treat “24-hour parking” as an out-of-box feature.

4G and remote monitoring: verify your region

70mai’s pages do not present one consistent North American answer for A510 4G support. The global page has described US 4G as coming soon, while a later US page lists the A510 among products associated with 4G Cloud+. The service requires compatible hardware, a SIM and data plan, and plan activation. The US accessory page lists UP05 for other models rather than clearly confirming A510 support.

  • Optional 24-Hour Parking Monitor: S60 supports a 24-hour parking monitor with time-lapse recording. This feature requires a compatible Type-C hardwire kit, not included
  • 2" IPS Screen & 360 Suction Mount: The 2" IPS screen lets you check the camera view and adjust basic settings directly on the device. The 360 suction mount makes it easier to adjust the camera angle and remove or reinstall the unit

Before paying for remote live view or alerts, verify the exact A510 SKU, hardwire kit, carrier/SIM compatibility and current service availability through 70mai’s US 4G page.

Common problems and fixes

No recording

  • Check that the card is 32GB–256GB, Class 10/U1 or better, reputable and formatted in-camera.
  • Confirm it was inserted while powered off and that the charger and 12V socket stay powered with ignition.
  • Replace worn or counterfeit cards.

App cannot find the camera

  1. Power the camera and enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi permissions.
  2. Join the camera’s Wi-Fi network if prompted.
  3. Temporarily disable a VPN or aggressive Wi-Fi auto-switching.
  4. Restart the camera and app, then confirm the current regional app.
  5. If a server issue is suspected, retry later or contact 70mai support.

Missing GPS data

Allow satellite acquisition time, keep the GPS area unobstructed and check a clip recorded after startup. Missing overlay data does not necessarily mean the video failed.

Poor rear image

Inspect tint, defroster lines, dirt, condensation, cable seating, orientation and night glare. Confirm whether the camera is an RC11, RC12 or another regional accessory.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Heat and battery aging

The manual lists a lithium-ion battery. That makes long-term aging and vehicle heat relevant ownership considerations, although no universal operating-temperature limit should be inferred without the exact regional manual. Newer 70mai models emphasize supercapacitor designs; that is a comparison point, not proof that the A510 is unsafe.

Who should buy it?

  • Buy the A510 if you want strong front footage, GPS, a built-in screen, phone access and an optional rear view at a moderate system cost.
  • Choose a bundle with RC11 or RC12 if rear-impact evidence matters and you accept lower rear resolution.
  • Add a compatible hardwire kit only when parking surveillance is a real requirement and you are comfortable with correct fuse and battery protection installation.
  • Choose a 4K or different-supported alternative if native 4K, supercapacitor hardware, fully offline operation or clearly confirmed US 4G is non-negotiable.

A current 4K-oriented step-up such as the 70mai A810/A810S may better suit resolution-focused buyers. Viofo and Garmin are worth considering when accessory ecosystems, support models or app preferences matter more than staying within 70mai’s system. Exact model pricing and features vary and require separate, current comparison.

Buying and warranty checks

Use the manufacturer’s US buying channels or an authorized retailer with a clear return policy. 70mai’s US warranty terms state that coverage applies to original purchasers using authorized channels; receipts from unauthorized sellers may not be accepted for verification. Historical review prices are not current price guidance, so check the live listing and confirm exactly which card, rear camera and power kit are included.

Product prices and availability are accurate as of the date/time indicated and are subject to change. Any price and availability information displayed on Amazon at the time of purchase will apply.
