V8 engines are still appearing in new performance cars, luxury SUVs and pickups—but the examples available today are not all equally available. Ford and Cadillac list 2026 models with V8 power, while Chevrolet has announced 2027 V8 models whose retail timing is later. Here are five verified examples, with their model-year status and manufacturer-rated output clearly distinguished.
Which new vehicles still have V8 engines?
These examples show V8 power across several vehicle classes. The figures below come from manufacturers, not independent testing; trim, market and ordering availability can differ.
| Vehicle | Status | V8 details | Manufacturer-rated output |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026 Ford Mustang Dark Horse | Listed in Ford’s 2026 lineup | V8; the cited page identifies V8 choices in the Mustang lineup | 500 hp for the Dark Horse; do not apply this rating to other Mustang trims. Ford |
| 2026 Cadillac Escalade-V | Listed by Cadillac | 6.2L hand-built supercharged V8 | 682 hp and 653 lb-ft of torque. Cadillac labels its acceleration estimate as its own. Cadillac |
| 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport | Announced 2027 model; the announcement does not establish current retail availability | Naturally aspirated 6.7L LS6 V8 | 535 hp and 520 lb-ft. Chevrolet |
| 2026 Ram 1500 | Ram announced the HEMI’s return; ordering and arrival timing depend on market | 5.7L HEMI V8 with eTorque | 395 hp. Stellantis |
| 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 | Announced; Chevrolet said it was expected to go on sale near the end of 2026, so check current status | Next-generation 5.7L or 6.6L V8 | 5.7L: 402 hp and 428 lb-ft; 6.6L: 481 hp and 501 lb-ft. Chevrolet |
What these V8s show—and what they do not
V8 power is not confined to sports cars
The Mustang and Corvette represent performance-car applications, while the Escalade-V is a luxury SUV and the Ram and Silverado are pickups. This mix shows the engine continuing in different vehicle roles, not just in traditional coupes.
There is no single V8 experience
The examples include a naturally aspirated Corvette engine, a supercharged Escalade-V engine and a Ram V8 paired with eTorque assistance. Displacement and output also vary. A horsepower figure alone does not tell you how an engine delivers power, what vehicle it serves or whether it uses hybrid assistance.

Announced does not mean on sale
The 2026 Mustang and Escalade-V appear on current manufacturer pages. The Corvette and Silverado entries are announced 2027 models, and the Ram release describes market-dependent ordering and arrival timing. Check the manufacturer’s current page or a dealer in your market before treating any announced model as orderable.
Why this is not a definitive ten-car list
The title’s premise holds up: manufacturers still list or announce new V8-powered vehicles. But five verified examples do not establish the original ten models or its selection criteria. Road & Track’s June 2026 roundup also covers V8-powered coupes, sedans, wagons and sports cars, but model-year and regional availability can change; confirm candidates on the relevant manufacturer’s current page. Road & Track’s roundup provides broader editorial context, not a substitute for checking each model’s status.
