There is one important update to the original idea behind this list. As of August 13, 2026, these vehicles are no longer simply future products. Mercedes-Benz says the CLA and GLB are already contributing meaningfully to sales, while the electric GLC has moved from its September 2025 premiere into production ramp-up during 2026. Availability, pricing, seating configurations, and final specifications can still vary by country, so treat the dates below as launch-wave and production context rather than a promise of immediate availability in every market.

1. All-new Mercedes-Benz CLA: the technology-led entry point
Mercedes-Benz unveiled the all-new CLA on March 13, 2025. The company describes it as the first model in a completely new vehicle family, making it much more significant than a routine redesign of the previous CLA. Mercedes-Benz says the new generation is intended to deliver more space, refinement, comfort, intelligence, and efficiency than its predecessor.

The CLA is the most important choice here for buyers who want Mercedes-Benz’s newest architecture but do not necessarily want an SUV. Its lower-slung shape gives it a different mission from the GLB and GLC: it is the technology showcase for drivers who prefer a sedan or fastback-style car, a more car-like seating position, and a smaller visual footprint.
Electric first, but not electric only
The official CLA press material describes battery-electric propulsion as well as later high-tech electrified-combustion models using 48-volt technology. That makes the CLA more flexible than a simple all-EV replacement. In markets where charging access, winter conditions, long-distance driving, or purchase price make a full EV less convenient, an electrified-combustion version may be the more practical route into the new generation.
That powertrain choice is also why buyers should avoid assuming that every CLA has the same charging hardware, range, transmission, or equipment. Mercedes-Benz’s global launch information establishes the product strategy, but it does not automatically establish which versions will be sold in the United States or another specific market.

Why the CLA deserves attention
- It starts a new Mercedes-Benz family. The CLA is the clearest early example of the company’s new technology and design direction.
- It offers a lower-slung alternative to the SUV-heavy market. Buyers do not have to move into a GLB or GLC to get the newest platform strategy.
- It leaves the powertrain decision open. The documented plan includes battery-electric and 48-volt electrified-combustion variants.
- It may be the most accessible entry into the new technology. That does not mean a confirmed lowest price in every country; it means the CLA occupies the entry-point role in this three-model comparison.
Who should wait for the CLA?
Wait for the CLA if your priorities are new Mercedes software and electric technology, a lower seating position, and a relatively compact vehicle. It is less convincing if your first concern is a third row, tall cargo space, or maximum SUV practicality. In those cases, the GLB is the more natural model to investigate.
Ownership-shopping note: A newly introduced model also creates vehicle-specific accessory demand. If you are comparing listings for Mercedes-Benz CLA 2025 floor mats, confirm the exact model year, body style, drivetrain, market, and floor-mat retention clips before ordering. A sedan and a Shooting Brake, where both are offered, should not be assumed to share identical mats, and a listing using the word CLA alone is not enough proof of fitment.
2. All-new Mercedes-Benz GLB: the practical compact SUV
The all-new GLB applies the same product offensive to a more practical body style. Mercedes-Benz describes a redesigned interior, a new Superscreen, and a more expressive exterior with a stronger off-road-oriented character. Its central advantage over the CLA is flexibility: the GLB is intended for buyers who need more upright passenger space, easier cargo access, and occasional additional seating.
Mercedes-Benz material positions the GLB as a five- or seven-seat vehicle, but that should be read as a market-dependent range rather than a universal specification. A seven-seat GLB in one region does not guarantee that every U.S. version, trim, motor, or model year will offer the same seating configuration.

The electric GLB adds a useful middle ground
Mercedes-Benz separately documents an all-new electric GLB in environmental-check material published on May 8, 2026. A regional Mercedes-Benz release describes an electric GLB with up to seven seats, up to 590 kilometres of WLTP range in the cited Turkish specification, 800-volt charging, and up to two tonnes of towing capacity.
Those are useful indicators of the electric GLB’s intended role, but they are not global specifications. The 590-kilometre figure is WLTP, not EPA range, and the seating, towing rating, battery options, motor outputs, charging equipment, and standard features may all change by market. U.S. shoppers should wait for a Mercedes-Benz USA announcement, configurator listing, or dealer documentation before treating any of those figures as American-market facts.
A genuine successor program, not just a facelift
The GLB’s production transition reinforces how substantial this redesign is. Mercedes-Benz annual-report material said production of the existing GLB at the COMPAS plant in Mexico was scheduled to end in May 2026 before successor production began at Kecskemét in Hungary. That planned changeover is evidence of a successor program rather than a minor visual refresh, although production schedules and allocation timing can change.
Why the GLB may be the smartest family choice
- It prioritizes flexibility. The GLB is the model to examine first if passenger space and cargo access matter more than a low roofline.
- It may offer seven-seat capability. This is a cited-market positioning, not a guarantee for every country or trim.
- It brings the new interior direction to a compact SUV. The redesigned cabin and Superscreen make it more than a simple replacement with updated styling.
- It gives EV shoppers a potentially useful format. An electric compact SUV can be easier to live with than a lower sedan for families, pets, child seats, and bulky cargo.
Choose the GLB over the CLA if you routinely carry several passengers, need a taller cargo area, or value occasional third-row use. Choose it over the electric GLC if a more compact footprint and potentially greater practicality per dollar are more important than moving into Mercedes-Benz’s core SUV segment. The actual decision will depend on local price, battery size, and whether the seven-seat version is sold where you live.
3. All-new electric Mercedes-Benz GLC: the core-segment EV
The electric GLC is the most consequential model in this trio for Mercedes-Benz’s broader EV rollout. The company gave it a world premiere in September 2025 and reported that production ramp-up began at the Bremen plant in 2026. Mercedes-Benz says it is being built flexibly alongside combustion and hybrid models as well as the EQE.
That production detail matters. The electric GLC is not merely a technology demonstrator or a distant concept; it is entering the company’s established manufacturing system in a segment that already matters to mainstream SUV buyers. For shoppers who want a larger and more familiar Mercedes SUV format than the compact GLB, this is the vehicle to watch.
Early demand: important, but manufacturer-reported
Mercedes-Benz says that during the first three months referenced in its corporate update, the electric GLC was ordered more often than any other battery-electric vehicle in the company’s history. That is a significant statement, but it remains a manufacturer-reported order claim, not independent market-share data or the result of comparative testing. It should be treated as evidence of early customer response rather than proof that the GLC is objectively the best electric SUV.
Why the electric GLC belongs on a 2025–2026 watch list
- It targets the brand’s core SUV segment. The GLC is a more central product for Mercedes-Benz than a niche performance derivative.
- It is part of a manufacturing rollout. Bremen production ramp-up gives the launch more substance than a reveal without a production path.
- It represents the next EV step for mainstream buyers. It is aimed at customers who want an established SUV format, not necessarily the smallest or most experimental electric Mercedes.
- Its early order response gives it momentum. The claim is worth noting, while keeping its source and limitations clear.
The electric GLC is the better fit if you want a larger core Mercedes SUV and are prepared to make battery-electric ownership work. Before placing an order, investigate home charging, public-charging access, route planning, winter range expectations, insurance, and local service support. The most relevant future buyer-help category around these vehicles is compatible EV charging equipment, but any charger or cable recommendation must be matched to the vehicle’s market-specific connector, voltage, amperage, installation requirements, and charging limits.
How these three models fit Mercedes-Benz’s wider plan
Mercedes-Benz has described a broad product offensive involving more than 40 new or refreshed models through 2027. The CLA, GLB, and electric GLC are therefore not the only vehicles arriving in the period. The company’s official 2026 update also lists products such as the electric GLA, electric C-Class, new GLE and GLS models, and AMG products.
This trio is stronger for a general buying guide because each model represents a distinct role:
| Buyer need | Best match | Reason |
|---|---|---|
| New technology in a lower car | CLA | It launches the new family and offers electric and 48-volt electrified-combustion pathways. |
| Compact family utility | GLB | Its SUV body, flexible cabin, and market-dependent seven-seat positioning make it the practical choice. |
| A larger mainstream Mercedes EV | Electric GLC | It brings the new EV strategy into the brand’s core SUV segment and is already moving through production ramp-up. |
That is why this selection is more defensible than choosing three speculative AMG derivatives or three minor facelifts. It compares three vehicles that should matter to different real-world buyers while remaining supported by official reveal, production, or corporate evidence.

The wording needs qualification because reveal year, model year, sales year, and production year are not always the same thing. The CLA was unveiled in 2025. The electric GLC premiered in September 2025 and entered production ramp-up in 2026. The GLB’s successor program spans a production transition that Mercedes-Benz said would move from Mexico to Hungary in 2026.

That means the most accurate framing today is new Mercedes models from the 2025–2026 launch wave, not a claim that all three are still unreleased everywhere.
Some markets may still be waiting for order openings, dealer allocations, homologation, final trim details, or customer deliveries. A global reveal also does not establish U.S. pricing. Do not convert European VAT-inclusive or VAT-exclusive prices into U.S. MSRP, and do not treat a regional press release as a substitute for a live Mercedes-Benz USA configurator.
Powertrain and charging details buyers should not mix together
Mercedes-Benz’s strategy across this period is mixed rather than exclusively battery-electric. The CLA material covers both battery-electric models and 48-volt electrified-combustion variants. The GLB is documented in electric form, while the company’s wider plan continues to include combustion and hybrid vehicles. The electric GLC is the battery-electric representative of the core SUV segment in this comparison.
Do not assume that all three vehicles share the same battery, connector, charging speed, range, or trim structure. Even an 800-volt claim attached to one model should not be transferred automatically to another. For example, a separate 2026 Mercedes-Benz GLA release describes 800-volt charging and a ten-minute range-recovery figure; that is evidence about the GLA, not proof of identical charging performance for the CLA, GLB, or GLC.
Range figures require the same caution. WLTP is a European testing standard and should remain labeled as WLTP. It should not be presented as EPA range, and neither figure guarantees the same result in cold weather, at highway speeds, with a full load, or while towing.
U.S. shoppers: what to verify before you take a launch claim seriously
- Confirm the market. Check Mercedes-Benz USA if you are in the United States. Global and regional press material can describe vehicles that are not yet orderable in the U.S.
- Confirm the model year and sales date. A 2025 reveal is not necessarily a 2025 U.S. model year or a 2025 customer delivery.
- Check the exact body style. CLA body-style naming and accessory fitment can differ, particularly where both sedan and Shooting Brake versions are offered.
- Verify seating. Treat seven-seat GLB references as market-specific until the local configurator or official specification sheet confirms them.
- Use the correct range standard. Keep WLTP and EPA numbers separate; never relabel one as the other.
- Ask about charging hardware. Confirm connector type, voltage, maximum amperage, included cables, and whether home installation needs an electrician or service upgrade.
- Check towing and payload locally. The up-to-two-tonne electric GLB towing figure comes from a cited regional release and should not be generalized worldwide.
- Wait for local pricing. European prices, especially those affected by VAT, are not U.S. MSRP.
- Separate company claims from independent evidence. Mercedes-Benz’s early-order statement is useful launch context, but it is not an independent reliability, range, or performance test.
Which one should you wait for?
Choose the CLA if…
- You prefer a sedan or fastback-style car to an SUV.
- You want the first widely visible example of Mercedes-Benz’s new vehicle family.
- You want to choose between a battery-electric model and a 48-volt electrified-combustion alternative where both are offered.
- You do not need third-row seating or maximum SUV cargo flexibility.
Choose the GLB if…
- You need the most practical cabin and cargo layout of these three.
- Occasional seven-seat use matters and the local version actually offers it.
- You want an electric compact SUV rather than a lower sedan.
- You value a smaller footprint than the GLC and can accept market-dependent range and equipment.
Choose the electric GLC if…
- You want a larger, core-segment Mercedes electric SUV.
- You prefer a more established SUV format over the compact GLB.
- You have dependable home or public charging access.
- You are comfortable waiting for local ordering, allocation, and delivery details to become clear.
Bottom line
The CLA, GLB, and electric GLC are the three Mercedes-Benz launches worth watching most closely from the 2025–2026 wave because they solve different problems. The CLA is the new-technology entry point for buyers who want a lower car. The GLB is the flexible family option, with seven-seat capability documented in some markets. The electric GLC is the most important core-SUV EV and has already reached production ramp-up.
Just do not shop from the headline alone. Check your country’s configurator, confirm the model year and body style, keep WLTP separate from EPA, and verify every charging, towing, seating, and accessory-fitment claim against the exact vehicle you can order.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are the CLA, GLB, and electric GLC actually available yet?
They are no longer purely future vehicles. Mercedes-Benz unveiled the CLA in March 2025, premiered the electric GLC in September 2025, and reported 2026 production ramp-up for the GLC. Its July 2026 update also said the CLA and GLB were contributing to sales. Some countries may still be waiting for orders, allocations, or deliveries.

Which of these new Mercedes models is best for families?
The GLB is the strongest choice for family flexibility because it has an SUV body and is positioned as a five- or seven-seat vehicle in cited Mercedes-Benz material. Seven-seat availability varies by market, so confirm the local specification before relying on a third row.
Can I treat the electric GLB’s 590-kilometre range as U.S. EPA range?
No. The electric GLB’s cited 590-kilometre figure is WLTP range from a regional Turkish specification. WLTP and EPA testing are different standards, and the number should not be presented as EPA range or assumed to apply to every market.
Do all three new Mercedes models use the same charging hardware?
No. Charging equipment is model- and market-dependent. Confirm the exact connector, voltage, amperage, maximum charging rate, included cables, and home-installation requirements for the vehicle sold in your country. An 800-volt claim for one Mercedes model does not automatically apply to all three.
The Bottom Line
The short answer: Pick the CLA for new technology in a lower-slung car, the GLB for compact-SUV flexibility and possible seven-seat use, and the electric GLC for a larger mainstream Mercedes EV. As of August 2026, all three are beyond the purely speculative stage, but local availability and specifications still require confirmation.
