General Motors Specialty Vehicles (GMSV) has reportedly confirmed the 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 for Australia. Orders were reported open from October 1, 2026, with local supply described as build-to-order. The Australian launch report lists a starting price of A$299,990 before on-road costs and says the MY27 offering is a 3LZ Coupe. What has been announced for Australia?
Driving Enthusiast reported on October 1, 2026, that GMSV had confirmed the MY27 Corvette Z06, with orders opening that day. The report says Australian cars will be built to order and that production is scheduled to begin at GM’s Bowling Green plant in Kentucky in January 2027. That is a production start, not a promised delivery date for an individual customer.
The reported Australian starting price is A$299,990 before on-road costs. Delivery timing is said to depend on a buyer’s specification and production allocation. These launch details come from the specialist report; confirm the current price, order status and estimated timing directly with a GMSV dealer.
What is the Australian specification?
The launch report describes the Australian MY27 Z06 as offered exclusively in 3LZ Coupe form. It reports the mid-mounted 5.5-litre naturally aspirated LT6 V8 at 475 kW at 8,550 rpm and 595 Nm at 6,300 rpm, with an 8,600-rpm limit. These are figures reported for the Australian offer by Driving Enthusiast’s October 1, 2026 launch report.

Chevrolet’s official 2027 US-market Z06 page instead lists 670 horsepower and describes an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission. Chevrolet’s June 2026 LT6 engine feature gives the US-market engine output as 670 hp and 460 lb-ft. The Australian report’s kW and Nm figures and the US figures use different unit conventions and market reporting; the available information does not establish a mechanical difference between the cars.
Why does the 8,600-rpm V8 matter?
The LT6 is a 5.5-litre naturally aspirated V8 with a flat-plane crankshaft. Its high 8,600-rpm redline sets it apart from the lower-revving, turbocharged engines common in high-performance road cars: the engine is designed to keep building power at high engine speed rather than relying on turbocharger boost. The redline is not the same as the reported Australian peak-power speed of 8,550 rpm.

In Chevrolet’s June 2026 engine feature, GM engineer Dustin Gardner explained the development target: “That was the good thing with the small-block’s Gemini architecture – there was no baseline. We wanted a V8 flat-plane crank that could spin up close to 9000 RPM. We worked back from that and ended up on 8600.” Chevrolet’s US product page also claims 2.6 seconds from 0–60 mph and a 10.6-second quarter-mile; those are manufacturer figures for the US-market car, not Australian test results.

The Australian launch report says Z07 adds track-focused hardware, including carbon-fibre aerodynamics, upgraded suspension and brakes, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 R tyres. It also reports carbon-ceramic brakes and multiple wheel and exterior options. It does not establish Australian MY27 package pricing or all fitment details, so buyers should have a dealer confirm the exact local specification and option costs.

Chevrolet’s US page describes its Z07 package with a carbon-fibre aero package, high wing, ground effects, dive planes, carbon-ceramic Brembo brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 summer-only tyres. These US-market details should not be assumed to define the Australian MY27 parts list. As regional background only, GM Australia and New Zealand’s October 9, 2024 range release said Z07 was available on the prior regional Z06 with carbon-fibre aero, chassis tuning, Michelin Cup 2 R ZP tyres and Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes.
