The 2027 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray replaces the previous model’s 6.2-liter LT2 V8 with GM’s naturally aspirated 6.7-liter LS6. GM rates the new engine at 535 horsepower and 520 lb-ft of torque. Those are manufacturer figures, not independent test results.
What changes with the 2027 Stingray engine?
The LS6 becomes the standard engine in the 2027 Stingray; it is not an option reserved for another Corvette trim. Its predecessor, the Stingray’s 6.2-liter LT2, gives way to a 6.7-liter V8 rated by GM at 535 hp at 6,100 rpm and 520 lb-ft at 4,600 rpm. GM lists displacement as 409 cubic inches and compression as 13.0:1.
GM describes the LS6 as naturally aspirated. Its March 2026 technical disclosures specify a 95-mm throttle body, a tunnel-ram intake with high-velocity ports, a new lubrication system, forged pistons and rods, and revised exhaust manifolds. These are manufacturer-published specifications; the cited material does not include an independent teardown.
How did GM increase displacement?
The change from 6.2 to 6.7 liters comes from a longer stroke, not a wider bore. GM says the LS6 stroke is 100 mm, compared with 92 mm for the LT2, while bore remains 103.25 mm. GM also gives 4.4 inches as the Gen 6 Small Block’s bore spacing.

- Easy assembly, pre-painted metal body
- When finished the vehicles are fully functional
- Rolling diecast replica
- Skill level: intermediate
GM says the LS6 was designed to raise power while improving emissions and maintaining fuel economy. The cited company material does not provide a quantified fuel-economy or emissions result, so those aims should not be read as a published rating.
Where the LS6 fits in the 2027 Corvette lineup
The LS6 is not the only engine in the 2027 range. The table separates engine-only ratings from hybrid system totals, which are not directly comparable as like-for-like engine output.

| Model | Powertrain | GM-listed output |
|---|---|---|
| Stingray | 6.7L LS6 V8 | 535 hp; 520 lb-ft |
| Grand Sport | 6.7L LS6 V8 | 535 hp; 520 lb-ft |
| Grand Sport X | 6.7L LS6 V8 plus front electric motor | 721 combined hp; 665 lb-ft |
| Z06 | 5.5L LT6 V8 | 670 hp; 460 lb-ft |
| ZR1 | 5.5L LT7 V8 | 1,064 hp; 828 lb-ft |
| ZR1X | LT7 hybrid system | 1,250 combined hp; 973 lb-ft |
These figures come from GM’s June 2026 engine guide. In GM’s description, the LS6 emphasizes large-displacement naturally aspirated character, the LT6 is high-revving, and the twin-turbo LT7 represents the more extreme version of that approach. Those are GM’s characterizations, not independent comparative driving evaluations.
What performance figures has Chevrolet published?
Chevrolet’s Stingray product page says the car can reach 0–60 mph in 2.8 seconds with the available Z51 Performance Package and lists a 200-mph track top speed. The 0–60 figure is package-dependent; it is not a claim that every Stingray configuration achieves it.

GM separately reported a validated 200-mph run in a 2027 Stingray 1LT without Z51. GM says a professional driver made the run on a closed course and includes a “Do not attempt” warning. That specific test result is not a normal-road speed recommendation or an independent test.
What does the 2027 Stingray cost?
Official GM pages show different starting prices. Chevrolet’s Stingray product page lists $71,300, while a GM News report published June 30, 2026 gives a $73,495 starting MSRP. Check Chevrolet’s current build-and-price page and a local dealer quote for the latest applicable figure. GM’s June report says its MSRP excludes tax, title, license, dealer fees and options, and that the dealer sets the final price; MSRP is not an out-the-door price.

Who builds the LS6 and the Stingray?
In its March 26, 2026 announcement, GM said Flint Engine Operations in Flint, Michigan, would assemble the LS6 using U.S. and globally sourced parts. GM also said Bowling Green Assembly would build Stingray and Grand Sport vehicles beginning in summer 2026. Those are company production plans, not confirmation of the plant or delivery date for any particular customer’s car.

Mike Kociba, GM assistant chief engineer for the Small Block, said the team wanted “a wide, high torque band, and high power.” In discussing the LS6’s 13.0:1 compression ratio against the 1960s L88, he said modern controls made it possible to exceed that earlier benchmark while using unleaded fuel. These are engineering explanations from GM, not independent validation of comparative performance.
