The U.S.-market 2026 Toyota Corolla Cross is a measured refresh, not a full redesign. Toyota focused on new front-end styling, a reworked front console, a larger-screen option on selected grades, and a handful of grade-specific colors, wheels and cold-weather features. The gas and hybrid lineups retain distinct powertrains, so choosing between them matters more than the visual updates.
What changed for the 2026 Corolla Cross?
Toyota’s May 8, 2025 announcement describes a model-year update rather than a new-generation vehicle. The changes are concentrated in appearance and cabin usability; Toyota did not announce a replacement for the gas or hybrid powertrain families. The refresh is modest by design, though that does not mean every buyer will prefer the carryover formula.
- Different front styling: Hybrid models get a color-matched grille and bumper treatment, while gas models get a wider, rugged-style grille. Toyota’s later arrival announcement says all grades also receive new LED daytime running lights.
- Reworked front console: Toyota says the console improves usable storage and access to controls. On models equipped with a Qi wireless charger, a divider helps keep a phone in place.
- More screen availability: The 10.5-inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen is standard on XLE and XSE and available as an upgrade on LE and SE. Toyota’s May announcement lists an 8-inch screen otherwise on L, LE, S and SE.
- Grade-specific appearance choices: Toyota lists new wheel choices, Cavalry Blue on specified grades, an optional two-tone roof on selected hybrids, and Portobello interior color on XLE.
- Selected cold-weather equipment: Toyota says the Cold-Weather package, including heated front seats and a heated steering wheel, is standard on XLE AWD and Hybrid XSE, and available on LE AWD and SE.
These details and grade qualifications come from Toyota’s May 8, 2025 U.S. announcement and its September 24, 2025 arrival announcement. Confirm equipment on the specific vehicle: options and packaging can affect what a particular example includes.
Gas or hybrid: which 2026 powertrain fits?
The gas and hybrid Corolla Cross models have different output, drivetrain availability and Toyota-estimated fuel economy. The figures below are manufacturer specifications and estimates for the U.S. 2026 model; they are not independent road-test results or a guarantee of what an individual driver will achieve.

Toyota published the power and fuel-economy specifications in its May 8, 2025 announcement. The 42-mpg hybrid figure and gas estimates are Toyota manufacturer estimates, not independent measurements. Toyota’s September 24, 2025 arrival announcement listed the 2026 U.S. starting MSRPs shown here: $24,635 for gas models and $28,995 for hybrid models. Toyota said those prices exclude a $1,495 Dealer Processing and Handling fee, which was subject to change. They are announced starting prices, not out-the-door totals or current dealer quotes.
What equipment matters in daily use?
Toyota lists a 60/40 split-folding rear seat and an available power liftgate. Every grade is listed with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, six speakers and two front USB-C ports. JBL audio is available on XLE and XSE, with other comfort and convenience features varying by grade.

For safety equipment, Toyota says Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and the STAR Safety System are standard across all 2026 grades. Its equipment list also places Blind Spot Monitor and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert on LE and XLE gas grades and SE and XSE hybrid grades; Front and Rear Parking Assist with Automatic Braking is listed for XLE and XSE. These are manufacturer equipment claims, not crash-test ratings or independent safety findings. Check the window sticker or Toyota’s current grade-specific documentation for the equipment on an individual vehicle.
Toyota also lists all-weather floormats, roof rack crossbars, an activity mount and a tow hitch as available accessories. The hitch is associated with a stated capacity of up to 1,500 lb; verify fitment and limits for the particular vehicle and accessory. For any accessory purchase, check model year and trim compatibility rather than assuming a listing fits every Corolla Cross.

How the 2026 refresh compares with the 2027 model year
Toyota announced the 2027 Corolla Cross on October 2, 2026, after announcing the 2026 model. The 2027 release describes hybrid grades SE and XSE, with standard AWD, 196 system horsepower and a 42-mpg combined EPA estimate. It lists starting MSRPs of $25,535 for gas L FWD and $31,415 for hybrid SE. Those are 2027 figures and should not be substituted for the 2026 prices or lineup. No. Based on Toyota’s published changes, the 2026 Corolla Cross keeps the established gas and hybrid powertrain families and concentrates its updates on styling, console usability, screen availability and selected grade equipment. That is a refresh, not evidence of a complete redesign. For a buyer weighing a 2026 example, the practical questions are whether the gas or hybrid drivetrain fits, whether AWD is needed, and which grade includes the screen or cold-weather equipment they want.
