Shelby says the car was already available to order by January 9, 2026; the sources available do not confirm a fresh arrival or reveal during the week of October 8, 2026.
Which S650 Shelby Mustang is this?
Shelby American’s 2026 Super Snake is based on the seventh-generation S650 Ford Mustang GT. It is a Shelby American-built and branded conversion, not evidence of a new Ford factory Shelby model. Shelby’s catalog lists the Super Snake alongside two other S650 offerings, the Super Snake-R and GT350; those are separate models, not alternate names for this car. Shelby’s Super Snake page and its vehicle catalog identify the models.
A January 9, 2026 report said the Super Snake was available to order, so it was not a newly announced model that week. The available sources do not verify an October 8, 2026 launch, reveal, or arrival event. Ford Muscle’s January 9 report provides the dated chronology.
What powertrain and performance equipment does Shelby list?
Shelby specifies an 830-plus-horsepower supercharger system pairing Ford’s Gen 4 5.0-liter Coyote V8 with a 3.0-liter Whipple supercharger. Shelby says its horsepower ratings are based on 93-octane fuel. This is the manufacturer’s stated figure; the cited sources do not provide independent test results. See the model page and 2026 Super Snake brochure.

It is Shelby’s stated starting-price basis, not a universal out-the-door total: options, taxes, market, and availability can change what a buyer pays. Shelby’s catalog also identifies the 2026 Super Snake-R and 2026 GT350. The available published details establish that they are separate S650 Shelby offerings, but do not provide enough comparable price and configuration information to rank them against the Super Snake. Compare exact model name, base Mustang, price basis, powertrain claim and fuel basis, equipment, transmission and body-style choices, allocation, warranty, and seller route before treating them as direct alternatives. Buyers outside the United States should verify the local builder and terms. Shelby Australia describes itself as an officially licensed Shelby American Mustang builder and shows an S650 Super Snake-R; that establishes an Australia-specific licensing route, not that U.S. pricing or warranty applies there. Shelby Australia provides that regional context.
