Nissan Mexicana announced on 23 February 2026 that production of the new 2026 Nissan Versa had begun at its Aguascalientes A1 plant. The company said the milestone took the plant past eight million vehicles manufactured. A separate announcement on 4 March listed the Mexico-market trims and launch prices.
Where is the 2026 Nissan Versa built?
The new Versa is being built at Nissan’s Aguascalientes A1 plant in Mexico, according to the company’s 23 February 2026 production announcement. Nissan said the start of this generation’s production took the facility beyond eight million vehicles manufactured.
Nissan reported that more than 4,800 employees and 104 Mexican suppliers are involved in the Versa manufacturing operation. Those are company-reported figures; the announcement does not present them as independently audited counts.
What Nissan announced about the Versa in Mexico
Nissan says the Versa has been sold in Mexico since 2011, with more than one million units commercialized there. The automaker also describes it as the country’s best-selling vehicle in recent years. These sales and leadership statements are Nissan’s claims; the cited announcement does not provide an independent sales-data analysis.

Rodrigo Centeno, identified by Nissan as president and managing director of Nissan Mexicana and INFINITI, said the Versa’s production milestone also reflected the strength of the company’s manufacturing operation in Mexico. His statement was published in Spanish in Nissan’s production release.

Nissan announced the 2026 Versa’s Mexico-market launch on 4 March 2026, separately from the February production announcement. Its launch release listed four CVT versions and these prices:

Features and driver-assistance equipment
Nissan’s launch materials describe a refreshed grille and front fascia, LED lamps, 17-inch aluminum wheels, a 12.3-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 7-inch digital TFT instrument display. The release text does not establish that every listed feature is fitted to every trim, so confirm equipment for the specific version with a dealer.

In a 10 June 2026 follow-up, Nissan describes a 1.6-liter engine paired with a CVT and says driver-assistance equipment varies by version. The company names Intelligent Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Blind Spot Warning and Intervention, Intelligent Around View Monitor with moving-object detection, cruise control, and lane-maintenance assistance. These are manufacturer descriptions, not independent safety-test findings or road-test results.

The Versa announcement places the A1 facility’s eight-million-vehicle milestone alongside the start of production for a model Nissan says has a long history in Mexico. Separately, Nissan announced in July 2025 that it planned to consolidate vehicle production from its CIVAC plant in Morelos to Aguascalientes during fiscal year 2025, which ended in March 2026. That plan provides context for Aguascalientes’ role, but the cited announcement does not independently verify the final operating status of every site or transferred model.
