What does the Bugatti W16 Mistral “La Perle Rare” look like inside and out? This one-of-one Sur Mesure commission pairs newly developed warm-gold and warm-white exterior colors with a cabin that carries the same palette into painted carbon, door-panel detailing and polished aluminum. Bugatti’s official feature presents the car as a bespoke creation, not a standard Mistral configuration.
Exterior: warm gold above, warm white below
La Perle Rare’s defining exterior feature is a two-tone body: a gold-infused warm color across the upper surfaces and a refined warm white below. Bugatti says both hues were developed specifically for this commission, so they should not be read as standard factory color options available across the W16 Mistral range.
The boundary between the colors is part of the design rather than a simple division. Bugatti says the white-and-gold lines were hand-masked and carefully painted, with weeks of painting and hundreds of hours devoted to the design. The diamond-cut alloy wheels continue the palette with a specially curated paint mixture intended to echo the body colors.

Cabin: the exterior palette carried indoors
The bespoke interior repeats the white-and-gold theme in materials and fine detailing. White-painted carbon components set a light backdrop, while alternating white and warm-gold lines run across the door panels. Machined and polished aluminum trim adds a contrasting metallic finish.
Bugatti says the team explored warm ambient lighting as part of the cabin design. These details describe La Perle Rare’s commission rather than equipment established as common to every W16 Mistral.

Signature details and the Dancing Elephant
The name La Perle Rare is made personal through Jascha Straub’s handwritten signature, rendered in embroidery, engraving and paintwork. A separate heritage motif links the car to Rembrandt Bugatti’s Dancing Elephant sculpture: Bugatti identifies it in the gear-selector casing and on the body panels behind the front wheels.

How the commission took shape
According to Bugatti, the project began at Pebble Beach in August 2023, when Jascha Straub, the marque’s Manager of Sur Mesure and Individualization, met the client. The design drew on Bugatti’s hand-painted Vagues de Lumière treatment and evolved into a pearlescent two-tone composition. Color exploration began with a silver concept, moved toward white tones, and concluded with the bespoke warm gold and warm white.
