Its appeal is polish and quiet composure rather than sports-sedan theatrics. It is distinct from the all-electric Audi A6 e-tron.
What is the 2026 Audi A6 like to drive?
In separate first-drive coverage, The Drive describes the A6 as a solid, refined daily sedan whose sensible composure can make it feel uneventful. Car and Driver likewise reports responsive steering, a quiet cabin and an energetic, refined drive. These are the publications’ impressions; they are not results from a test conducted for this review.
The Drive drove a Sport Plus model and discusses a more comfort-oriented configuration with optional air suspension and all-wheel steering. Both retain the same engine, all-wheel drive and dual-clutch transmission, according to that publication. The Drive’s assessment is that the A6 is polished and has personality, but does not turn every country road into a dramatic drive. Shoppers seeking more plushness should investigate the air-suspension configuration; those seeking sharper responses should compare Sport Plus equipment. The Drive’s review also discloses that Audi provided travel, accommodations and a vehicle.
How quick is the A6, and what does it use?
Audi USA’s 2026 overview search result lists a turbocharged V6 producing 362 hp and 406 lb-ft, paired with a seven-speed S tronic transmission and standard quattro all-wheel drive. Audi claims 0–60 mph in 4.5 seconds. The Drive also lists 4.5 seconds, while Car and Driver reports 4.3 seconds to 60 mph in its own test. Those are figures from different sources and methods, not directly comparable results from one standardized test.

What does the 2026 A6 cost?
Audi USA’s 2026 overview search result showed a starting price of $64,100, but its fee basis was not clear. The Drive lists $65,395 including a $1,295 destination charge. That makes the two figures unsuitable for a direct price comparison without confirming whether Audi’s figure includes destination. The Drive’s reviewed Sport Plus car totaled $79,140, and its Exclusive car totaled $83,490; those are specific test-car totals, not starting prices.
Audi’s U.S. page for the 2026 model redirected to a 2027 overview when opened, so the captured 2026 price and equipment details should be treated as provisional. Check Audi’s live build-and-price information and confirm the destination charge, trim and installed options with a dealer before comparing offers.

What equipment and technology stand out?
Audi’s 2026 search-result overview lists a standard 14.5-inch MMI touch display and an optional 10.9-inch passenger display. It also describes an available forward-facing dashcam recording at 4K and 30 frames per second. The dashcam requires a separately supplied microSD card; Audi’s captured overview does not establish a compatible card specification, so consult the 2026 owner’s manual before buying one.
Audi’s global April 15, 2025 release claims a drag coefficient of 0.23 and up to 30% better sound insulation than the predecessor. Those are manufacturer claims about the global sedan, not independent U.S.-market measurements. The release also discusses equipment and powertrain details for other markets; its European engine lineup, air suspension and all-wheel-steering references should not be assumed to describe U.S. standard equipment.

What are its fuel economy and trunk figures?
The Drive lists 20 mpg city, 29 highway and 23 combined for the A6. Car and Driver reports 38 mpg on its own 75-mph highway economy route; that is a result from a specific publication test, not a typical-use guarantee. The Drive lists 13.5 cubic feet of cargo volume. Autoblog reports 13.7 cubic feet, so the published figures differ slightly; verify the official U.S. specification if trunk capacity is a deciding factor.
How does it compare with the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class?
The 5 Series and E-Class are the most natural alternatives, but the available reviews do not provide a single controlled three-car comparison across price, acceleration, ride, cabin noise, technology, fuel economy and trunk capacity. A meaningful shopping comparison should use the same basis for each car rather than declare a universal winner from disconnected figures.

The A6 makes the most sense for a buyer who wants a quiet, polished business-class sedan with a conventional V6 powertrain and standard all-wheel drive. It is less obviously suited to someone who wants a sports sedan that makes winding roads the main event. Before choosing one, confirm current U.S. pricing and equipment, then compare the chassis configuration and cabin experience against a similarly equipped 5 Series and E-Class.
