The 2026 Aston Martin Vantage S Roadster combines the S model’s announced 680 PS and chassis revisions with the standard Vantage Roadster’s open-air format. But there is an important limit to any “test drive review”: the independent road tests available here cover the standard Roadster, while the separate Vantage S drive covers the S without establishing a drive of the S Roadster. So the case for this car is compelling on paper, but its exact open-top driving character has not been independently verified by those tests.
What the Vantage S Roadster is—and what has been tested
Aston Martin announced the Vantage S on July 9, 2025, offering it in both Coupe and Roadster forms and stating that first deliveries were expected in Q4 2025. The company describes the S as the most performance-focused Vantage in its sports-car range. That is the manufacturer’s positioning, not an independent comparison of every Vantage variant.
The distinction matters because the available independent coverage does not document a drive of the Vantage S Roadster. Car and Driver’s Vantage S drive discusses the S model’s engineering revisions, while Car and Driver and MotorTrend separately drove the standard Vantage Roadster. Their impressions are useful context, but they cannot establish how the S Roadster itself rides, steers, sounds or behaves with its roof down.
Vantage S specifications announced by Aston Martin
Aston Martin lists the Vantage S at 680 PS and 800 Nm. Its July 2025 announcement also identifies chassis revisions and a revised throttle-pedal calibration, along with S-specific bonnet blades, a rear lip spoiler and an interior combining Alcantara and leather. The manufacturer presents the chassis changes as targeting agility, driver connection and refinement; those are intended outcomes, not independently verified S Roadster test findings.

The company’s separate S-model drive at Car and Driver discusses engineering details including rear subframe mounting, damper and throttle changes, and the rear spoiler. It is evidence about the S model, but not a substitute for a test of the S Roadster.
What carries over from the standard Vantage Roadster
Aston Martin’s January 15, 2025 Roadster announcement describes a fully automatic roof that opens or closes in 6.8 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph (50 km/h). Those figures are for the standard Vantage Roadster announcement; the available information does not confirm separately that every roof specification is unchanged on the S Roadster.

The same announcement quotes 665 PS and 800 Nm for the standard Roadster, with a claimed 0–60 mph time of 3.5 seconds and a 202 mph top speed. These are not S Roadster figures. They should not be combined with the S’s 680 PS to imply an S Roadster acceleration or top-speed claim.

What independent drives say about the standard Roadster
Car and Driver
Car and Driver’s standard Roadster drive describes a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive, two-seat convertible with a twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 and an eight-speed automatic transmission. The publication reports 656 hp and 590 lb-ft, a quoted 49:51 front-to-rear mass split, and the same claimed 3.5-second 0–60 mph and 202 mph top-speed figures. It characterizes the car’s acceleration as exuberant and comments on the open car’s character; those are its impressions of the standard Roadster.

MotorTrend
MotorTrend’s standard Roadster quick drive also discusses the open-top driving experience and its relationship to the Coupe. It cites the manufacturer’s 3.5-second 0–60 mph and 202 mph claims and offers a favorable subjective assessment. That review, too, concerns the standard Roadster rather than the S Roadster.
Does the S make the open-top Vantage more compelling?
On the announced specifications, the S adds 15 PS over the standard Roadster’s 665 PS, while both announcements list 800 Nm. Its appeal is not simply the power increase: Aston Martin also specifies chassis work and a revised throttle calibration, changes intended to make the car more focused and connected. The standard Roadster’s roof speed and operating limit make the open-air format practical in motion, according to the manufacturer’s specification.

That makes the Vantage S Roadster an attractive proposition for someone who wants the S’s higher output and revised setup in a convertible. The unresolved question is how those changes interact with the Roadster’s structure and open-air experience in real driving. The independent standard-Roadster tests and the separate S drive do not answer that variant-specific question, so a confident verdict about the S Roadster’s ride, refinement or handling would go beyond the available evidence.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Bottom line
The 2026 Aston Martin Vantage S Roadster has a strong paper case: 680 PS, 800 Nm, and manufacturer-described chassis and throttle revisions, paired with the Roadster format. The standard car’s roof and performance specifications offer useful context, and independent drives find that standard Roadster engaging. But those sources do not establish a firsthand independent test of the S Roadster. Treat its specific driving character as unconfirmed until a direct road test evaluates that exact variant.
