The US-market V60 Cross Country pairs a turbocharged 2.0-liter mild-hybrid four-cylinder with an eight-speed automatic and standard all-wheel drive. How it drives: composed, not a sports wagon
Car and Driver recorded 7.1 seconds from zero to 60 mph in its test. That is a publication test result, not a guarantee for every car or driving condition. That character suits a wagon expected to handle commutes and longer trips rather than chase sports-sedan responses. Standard AWD and 7.8 inches of minimum ground clearance add confidence on rougher roads and in poor weather, but the available evidence does not establish that the V60 Cross Country is a substitute for a dedicated off-road vehicle.
Fuel economy: EPA estimates versus a road test
Car and Driver’s 2025 specification listing gives EPA estimates of 24 mpg city, 31 mpg highway and 27 mpg combined for the Plus B5 AWD. Separately, the publication recorded 29 mpg on its 75-mph highway test route. The EPA figures and the publication’s test are different measures, so the 29-mpg result should not be read as a revised EPA rating or a promise of real-world mileage. Published figures list 25.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats and 60.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded. The V60 Cross Country measures 188.5 inches long, with a 113.2-inch wheelbase, and has 7.8 inches of minimum ground clearance. Those numbers make it a practical wagon, though whether it replaces an SUV depends on how often you need more cargo room or a taller loading area.
