Buzz, seating varies by trim: it carries six or seven people. Volkswagen estimates 234 miles of range for rear-wheel drive (RWD) and 231 miles for 4MOTION all-wheel drive (AWD). Its published charging estimates are about nine hours from empty on a 240-volt, 11-kW Level 2 home charger and 26 minutes from 10% to 80% on a 200-kW DC fast charger. Cargo capacity changes substantially with the seats in use, folded, or removed.
These are Volkswagen-published specifications and estimates for the 2025 U.S. model, not results from an independent test. The figures do not automatically apply to another model year or market.

How many people can the 2025 ID. Buzz seat?
Volkswagen’s U.S. specifications list six or seven seats, depending on trim. The Pro S has a second-row bench and seats seven. The First Edition and Pro S Plus use two second-row captain’s chairs and seat six. These are different layouts, not a seven-seat configuration offered across every trim. Volkswagen’s 2025 U.S. ID. Buzz page describes the seating configurations.

| First Edition | Two captain’s chairs | Six |
| Pro S Plus | Two captain’s chairs | Six |
If you need a seat between the second-row outboard passengers, the Pro S bench is the configuration to consider. The captain’s-chair trims provide a different layout but do not have that second-row middle seat. The seating choice is therefore a practical distinction for families: compare the number of passengers you regularly carry with whether a second-row center position matters to you. The six-seat versions are not simply seven-seat versions with one seat temporarily unavailable; Volkswagen lists them with a different second-row arrangement.

How much cargo space does it have?
Volkswagen publishes three cargo-volume figures for the 2025 U.S. ID. Buzz. Each applies to a different seat arrangement, so the number is useful only when paired with its configuration. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent measurements. Volkswagen lists the cargo figures on its U.S. model page.
| Seat configuration | Published cargo volume |
|---|---|
| Third row in use | 18.6 cu. ft. |
| Second-row configuration | 75.5 cu. ft. |
| Second row folded and third row removed | 145.5 cu. ft. maximum stated volume |
The maximum figure requires removing the third row as well as folding the second row; it does not describe the space available with all seats installed. For family trips with the third row occupied, the 18.6-cu.-ft. figure is the relevant published capacity. If you are comparing vehicles, check that the seat arrangement and measurement method match before treating cargo-volume numbers as directly comparable.
Think of these numbers as answers to different packing situations rather than three measurements of the same usable space. If you expect to travel with all rows in place, focus on the 18.6-cu.-ft. figure, not the maximum. The 75.5-cu.-ft. number belongs to Volkswagen’s listed second-row configuration; the supplied specification does not describe it as the all-seats-in-use capacity. The maximum 145.5 cu. ft. requires both folding the second row and removing the third row, so it involves changing the passenger layout. Buyers should decide which seats they need on a typical trip before relying on the largest number.
What is the 2025 ID. Buzz’s range?
Volkswagen gives EPA-estimated range of 234 miles for the RWD version and 231 miles for the available 4MOTION AWD version. The published difference is three miles, but it is not a prediction that every AWD owner will travel exactly three fewer miles: these are estimates, and real-world range depends on how and where the vehicle is driven. Volkswagen’s model page and its 2025 technical information provide the manufacturer figures and qualifications.
| Drivetrain | EPA-estimated range, 2025 U.S. model |
|---|---|
| RWD | 234 miles |
| 4MOTION AWD | 231 miles |
Volkswagen cautions that actual range can vary with driving and charging habits, weather and temperature, battery age, vehicle condition, cargo load, topography, and other factors. Use the EPA estimates to understand the published trim difference, not as a guaranteed distance between charges.

It is also very quick to remove, there is a small bump on the coaster, pinch it and you can easily remove the coaster. - 100% Satisfaction: Our products have quality assurance, if you have questions or are not satisfied after receiving the product, don't worry, please contact us as soon as possible, we provide after-sales service.
The published three-mile gap is small, but it should not be treated as a precise real-world comparison. Conditions such as temperature, route topography, vehicle condition, and load may affect actual mileage; driving and charging habits also matter. If you are weighing RWD against 4MOTION AWD, compare the drivetrain that suits your needs and the corresponding EPA estimate, while recognizing that the estimate alone does not predict the range you will see on a particular trip. Volkswagen’s figures are specific to the 2025 U.S. versions covered by its materials.
How long does charging take?
Volkswagen publishes two estimates for different charging situations: a home Level 2 estimate from an empty battery to full, and a DC fast-charging estimate for a narrower 10%–80% battery window. They are not interchangeable measures of charging speed. One is a full-charge estimate using a home-charging example; the other is a partial-charge estimate using a specified public DC charger rating.
Home Level 2 charging
Volkswagen’s example uses a 240-volt, 11-kW Level 2 charger and estimates up to about nine hours for a charge from empty. This is a full-charge estimate, rather than a time for a short top-up. The actual time depends on the equipment and conditions.
The EVSE (charging hardware) is sold separately for the 2025 U.S. ID. Buzz. Volkswagen notes that installation and wiring costs may also apply. Before buying equipment or planning an installation, check the owner’s manual, confirm the charger’s connector and electrical requirements for the vehicle and home, follow local codes, and consult a qualified electrician. Volkswagen’s MY25 U.S. product page states: “Charging hardware (EVSE) not included with MY25 VW ID.Buzz and is sold separately and may require additional installation and wiring costs.”
The nine-hour estimate is an approximate empty-to-full example, not a guarantee for every home setup. A buyer planning home charging should treat the charger itself and the electrical work as separate considerations: the vehicle’s MY25 EVSE is not included, and Volkswagen says installation or wiring work may add costs. The source does not provide a dollar amount for the charger or installation. Confirm compatibility and electrical requirements rather than assuming that any charger listing will work or that installation is plug-and-play. The owner’s manual, local code requirements, and advice from a qualified electrician are the appropriate checks.

Public DC fast charging
Volkswagen estimates 26 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% using a 200-kW DC fast charger. This is a specified battery-charge window and charger rating—not a promise that every public stop will take 26 minutes. Charger capability and operating conditions affect the result. The estimate does not describe charging from empty to full. Volkswagen provides the figure in its 2025 technical information.
What’s actually slowing this PC down?
Pick the symptom - the matching free tool is one click away.
For a road-trip plan, keep the stated window in view: 26 minutes is Volkswagen’s estimate for 10% to 80% when using 200-kW DC fast charging. It should not be presented as the time for every charging stop, for a different charger, or for an empty-to-full charge. The Level 2 and DC figures also cover different portions of a charge, so comparing nine hours with 26 minutes as if they measured the same task would be misleading. Both are manufacturer estimates whose outcome depends on equipment and conditions.
What should buyers keep in mind?
- Choose the seating layout first. The seven-seat Pro S has a bench; the six-seat First Edition and Pro S Plus have captain’s chairs.
- Match cargo figures to the seats you will use. The largest stated capacity requires folding the second row and removing the third row.
- Compare like with like. Cargo-volume figures refer to different seat configurations and are manufacturer specifications, so do not compare them with another vehicle’s number unless the configuration and measurement method align.
- Treat range and charging times as estimates. They are published for the 2025 U.S. model and depend on configuration, equipment, and conditions.
- Separate home and public charging plans. Volkswagen’s Level 2 figure is up to about nine hours from empty to full; its DC estimate is 26 minutes from 10% to 80% with a 200-kW charger.
- Plan for home charging equipment separately. The EVSE is not included with the MY25 vehicle, and installation or wiring may add cost.
The figures in this FAQ apply to the 2025 U.S. model. They should not be carried forward to another model year without checking that year’s official specifications; the cited U.S. material does not establish 2026 availability or specifications. The sources support a dated answer about the MY25 ID. Buzz, not a specification guide for every electric minivan. For a current purchase decision, verify current official U.S. availability and the specifications for the model year you are considering.

Which drivetrain has more published range?
The 2025 U.S. RWD model has the higher EPA-estimated figure: 234 miles versus 231 miles for 4MOTION AWD. That three-mile published difference is not a prediction of the exact difference an individual driver will experience.
Does Volkswagen’s 26-minute charging figure mean empty to full?
No. It is the manufacturer’s estimate for charging from 10% to 80% on a 200-kW DC fast charger. Volkswagen’s separate home Level 2 example estimates up to about nine hours from empty to full using a 240-volt, 11-kW charger.
Is a home charger included, and how much does installation cost?
Volkswagen says the MY25 EVSE is sold separately and that installation and wiring costs may apply. The cited source gives no dollar estimate. Check the vehicle manual and electrical requirements, and consult a qualified electrician before selecting equipment or planning work.
Do these numbers apply to the 2026 U.S. ID. Buzz?
The research-backed specifications here are for the 2025 U.S. model. The cited sources do not establish definitive U.S. availability or specifications for 2026, so check current Volkswagen information for that model year.
