The 2025 Suzuki GSX250R ABS pairs full-fairing sportbike looks with a measured, approachable 248cc parallel-twin. Its low- and mid-range focus, 790 mm seat and ABS suit everyday riding, while its 181 kg curb weight and limited high-speed urgency reported in an older independent ride impression are worth weighing before you buy. Suzuki lists a U.S. base MSRP of $5,149 plus a $600 destination charge; dealer out-the-door pricing and current availability need confirmation.
What kind of motorcycle is the GSX250R?
Suzuki positions the 2025 GSX250R ABS for commuting, weekend rides and longer outings. Its styling borrows the visual language of a fully faired sportbike, but the manufacturer describes the engine tune as emphasizing low- to mid-range torque and easy operation—not outright performance. That makes the central question less about whether it looks sporty and more about whether its calm power delivery and everyday practicality fit your riding.
The U.S. model uses a 248cc, liquid-cooled, four-stroke SOHC parallel-twin with fuel injection, paired with a six-speed transmission and sealed O-ring chain. Suzuki lists a wet multi-plate clutch. These are manufacturer specifications, not independent performance measurements. Suzuki’s 2025 GSX250R ABS specifications and 2025 brochure provide the equipment details.
How does it ride?
Approachable everyday power
Suzuki says the engine is “tuned to maximize low- to mid-range torque.” That is the manufacturer’s description of its tuning, rather than a measured torque claim. Independent impressions broadly describe the bike as measured and manageable. In a 2025 comparison, Motorcyclist Web reported smooth, controlled everyday acceleration. Those are the publication’s impressions of its test motorcycle, not a guarantee of how every model year or rider will experience it.

Stable cruising is not the same as brisk acceleration
Visordown’s older first ride praised low- and mid-speed handling, saying, “Handling is where the GSX250R excels – especially at low to mid speeds.” The reviewer also found its steering light and riding position relatively pleasant for a 5 ft 7 in tester, but described the seat as hard and said the bike took time to reach faster cruising speeds. In its 2025 comparison, Motorcyclist Web described a stable, relaxed highway feel. These observations are compatible: a motorcycle can feel composed at speed while still taking patience to build speed or pass. Both are publication-specific impressions from different test bikes, dates and conditions, not a current independent test of the 2025 U.S. model.

Does it make sense as a commuter or first motorcycle?
Its low-to-mid-range emphasis, 790 mm (31.1 in.) seat height, full fairing and ABS-equipped brakes are relevant advantages for someone seeking a manageable daily ride. Seat height alone does not determine fit: reach to the ground and comfort depend on rider proportions, and the 181 kg (399 lb.) curb weight is substantial enough that you should assess parking and low-speed maneuvering in person. A test sit or supervised test ride can help answer questions that specifications cannot.
For longer rides, the fairing and relaxed highway impressions may appeal, but neither guarantees wind comfort for every rider. The older Visordown review’s hard-seat observation is a reason to check how the seat feels over the duration you actually plan to ride. If frequent high-speed acceleration is important, the limited urgency noted in that older review deserves attention alongside the more recent highway-stability impression.

The available evidence does not establish that this is the right first motorcycle for every new rider, nor does it establish reliability rates, insurance costs, service intervals, real-world fuel economy for a particular rider, or used-market value. Consult the owner’s manual for loading guidance rather than assuming a payload figure.

Because the figures conflict, confirm the tire size against the owner documentation for the precise model year and market before ordering tires.

The 2025 U.S. version has ABS-equipped front and rear discs. Suzuki cautions that ABS cannot prevent wheel skidding caused by braking while cornering and advises careful riding. ABS is a useful braking aid, not a guarantee against a skid or crash. Suzuki’s brochure includes the manufacturer’s safety qualification.

How much does the 2025 GSX250R ABS cost?
Suzuki Motor USA lists a $5,149 base MSRP plus a $600 destination charge for the 2025 model. The displayed manufacturer price excludes taxes, title, licensing, registration, dealer fees and optional equipment. Ask a dealer for a current out-the-door quote and verify inventory and offers; the cited information does not establish 2026 U.S. pricing or availability. Suzuki lists a 12-month unlimited-mileage limited warranty for the 2025 model. Longer coverage periods with other benefits are offered through Suzuki Extended Protection, but terms and eligibility should be confirmed separately. Details are on the Suzuki 2025 model page.
GSX250R or Gixxer SF250?
Motorcyclist Web’s 2025 comparison places the GSX250R alongside the Suzuki Gixxer SF250, but the available source material does not provide a complete same-market, same-year measured specification comparison to establish an overall winner. The useful distinction is how each feels and fits you: compare response and acceleration reserve, highway comfort and wind protection, riding position and passenger setup, and how each motorcycle feels to maneuver at parking speeds. Check the exact model year, market, ABS equipment, warranty and full dealer price before comparing costs. A paper comparison cannot replace sitting on or riding both.
