The 2025 Porsche 911 Carrera S arrived in the U.S. with 473 hp, more standard equipment and a higher launch MSRP than the base Carrera. Porsche positioned it between the Carrera and the Carrera GTS T-Hybrid, offering it as a rear-wheel-drive Coupe or Cabriolet with an eight-speed PDK transmission. Its launch price was $146,400 for the Coupe and $159,600 for the Cabriolet, before a $1,995 delivery, processing and handling fee.
What changed on the 2025 911 Carrera S?
Porsche’s January 8, 2025 announcement described an update centered on three areas: engine output, standard equipment and price. The model remains the middle step between the Carrera and Carrera GTS T-Hybrid in the Carrera range. At launch, both body styles were rear-wheel drive and paired with Porsche’s eight-speed dual-clutch PDK transmission.
The specifications and performance figures below are Porsche’s published claims; they are not results from an independent road test.
More power from the twin-turbo flat-six
The Carrera S uses a twin-turbocharged 3.0-liter boxer six rated at 473 hp and 390 lb-ft of torque. Porsche says the output is 30 hp higher than that of the preceding Carrera S. The company attributes the change to new turbochargers and charge-air cooling optimized with a design derived from the previous-generation 911 Turbo. Porsche also said emissions were reduced, but its announcement did not provide an emissions figure.

Acceleration and top speed
For the Coupe fitted with the Sport Chrono Package, Porsche quoted a 0–60 mph time of as little as 3.1 seconds—0.2 seconds quicker than its stated predecessor comparison—and a top track speed of 191 mph. Sport Chrono is an option, not standard equipment. Porsche’s current U.S. Carrera S model page displays a 3.3-second 0–60 mph figure; that current listing is separate from the 2025 launch announcement and its Sport Chrono-qualified claim. Neither figure here is an independently verified test result.
What equipment is standard, and what is optional?
The 2025 S adds equipment that helps distinguish it from the base Carrera. Porsche’s launch announcement lists a Sport Exhaust with silver tailpipes, brakes sourced from the preceding-generation Carrera GTS, revised dampers, Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV+) and staggered 20- and 21-inch Carrera S wheels as standard features.

Best Value
- Brand new box.
- Real rubber tires.
- Detailed interior, exterior.
- Officially licensed product.
- Made of diecast with some plastic parts.
These are historical launch prices, not a quote for a car today. Porsche’s current U.S. Carrera S page displays a different starting price and states that options and other charges are excluded. The available figures do not establish the predecessor’s U.S. MSRP, so they do not support a precise dollar or percentage calculation of the price increase over the prior Carrera S. Current transaction prices, dealer markups and individual-car availability are also not established here.
How the Carrera S fits between the Carrera and GTS
The S is the step above the plain Carrera and below the Carrera GTS T-Hybrid in Porsche’s Carrera lineup. Its case is a combination of higher output than the preceding S, a notably expanded standard-equipment list and the choice of Coupe or Cabriolet body styles. Buyers comparing cars should distinguish that standard equipment from the separately priced options, and compare current dealer quotes rather than treating the launch MSRP as today’s price.
